they updated the description lol Fed up with the mainstream? The design of the HVY-25 BKS oozes refinement and tasteful understatement. The visual highlights of this guitar include a reversed headstock and a matte black finish. Powered by two high-output humbuckers, this progressive axe is the perfect weapon of choice for connoisseurs of rock and metal. The maple neck has a roseacer fretboard with 24 frets, and features a Modern C neck profile. The ample cutaway opens up the high frets for screaming leads. Understatement? Only at first glance.

Please correct me if I'm wrong in my understanding that the factories in China make guitars to the specifications and price point that resellers (in this case, Harley Benton) provide. So, this guitar was built exactly the way Harley Benton requested. The problem lies with providing a description that does not accurately represent the guitar they are attempting to sell. It would seem, at least to me, that would result in more dissatisfied customers than satisfied ones. I question if this is the only Harley Benton guitar that is in reality "not as advertised / described?" Thanks for another great review. Please keep them coming.

After doing some research i found out that Thomann switched factories but failed to update the changes on their website. The early samples did have V necks and a few other changes compared to the ones on sale now. Like you i kept it for a while, but didn't like playing it, so it went to a local charity shop. Great video and explanation. There should never be false information about a product you sell on your website. If there is, it should be corrected as soon as it is identified. Now, you as the customer have just reviewed their product with this video, and someone who may have considered this brand is now "not" going to purchase from them because they don't trust the name. This how a company can ruin their reputation. They should have responded within a few days and didn't, this is poor customer support. I recently purchased 2 HB guitars as I was curious about all the great things I have heard about them. Like you, my expectations were in check, I knew I was buying sub $200 guitars. The finish on both was quite nice for the price point. One played quite well (again for the price point). however the second was complete rubbish. The neck was twisted, the frets were extremely unlevel and the guitar wasn't playable. My problem is not with the guitars, but with the way Thomann handled the situation. Basically, I'm paraphrasing here, stating this was acceptable for the price range of the guitars. The guitar was useless as anything other than a wall hanger. You do know that Charvel has an entire line of strat shaped guitars with thin neck profiles and jumbo frets that are specifically built for "lightning fast speeds" right? I do have to say your wrong about their customer service i have had them send me guitars with slight imperfections and they let me keep the bad guitar and sent a replacement at no charge expediently so cant agree there sad that your basing it on one low end guitar and then comparing it to Jackson and Ibanez guitars Their higher end stuff is actually really good.

First of all, thanks for watching. Ok, I made the second video because a lot of people missed the point the first time around. I guess I need to go over it again for you. Fret size is not stated in the description. However, there is an implication when you use words like "lightning fast" and "virtuoso." Why did I mention Jackson and Ibanez? Come on, you can do this. Because those guitars are built for "lightning fast speeds." Right? And those guitars have what kind of frets? That's right, JUMBO. So describing a guitar as lightning fast, yet it has tiny little frets? I mean if you don't see the problem there, I guess you just don't get it. And then you start talking about YOUR experience with the company. Yet I explicitly said multiple times that this has nothing to do with you and your HB guitar. Did you hear me say that? Your experience with them has been great. Happy for you. But again, that has nothing to do with me and this case. And then you mention it's a low end guitar, which I talked about. Seriously did you watch the whole video? The two things, neck profile and fret size, have NOTHING to do with it being on the low end. Jackson has $149 guitars with thin necks and jumbo frets. That's the reason for the comparison. If you still don't understand, I don't know what to say. Again, thanks for watching.

@@thebaldshredder lol ok seems you got it all figured out, so you should have expected the kickback right? to make a 2nd video ( I didn't see the 1st btw) and state right off the bat that you don't want to hear negative feedback is hilariously dumb, your going to have different opinions with anything if you didn't want to hear them in a video explaining that from the recourse if a 1st video there is a shut off comments option I believe . Secondly in no way do the words virtuoso and lightning fast speeds imply the same thing to everyone I have seen virtuosic playing done on the fattest of necks with small frets, not everyone thinks your guitar setup is ideal to shredding seems like alot of close mindedness to me but hey at least you tube's algorithm found my interest in HB and your 1 bad experience enough to put you up top of my video list
@thebaldshredder2 жыл бұрын
@@sixpenske1940 yeah not everyone agrees with me on ideal setup to shredding, just Charvel, Jackson, Ibanez, ESP, etc. Yeah but not everyone. And of course I expected the complaining from the HB fanboys. That was a given.

Even though they f'd up with this specific model (the main audience this guitar is going for does not like the specs of this instrument), it would still be fine for a beginner. At least for me it would have been. But the better you get, the more you see this type of stuff and the more it annoys you. If I got this thinking it's a metal shredding machine, I'd be a bit annoyed too, lol. Then again, I already have the B E S T metal shredding machine (Ibanez Xiphos), so I guess I could live with the disappointment.
@thebaldshredder2 жыл бұрын
Well I guess a beginner wouldn't notice because they don't know the difference. But it would harder for them to play without even realizing it. Thanks for watching.

Website now states neck profile: Modern C. The neck profile doesn't mean much to me cause I could play a 2x4 piece of lumber with strings. Like, what would you expect from Harley Benton? It's a Harley Benton! Just like the Sam Ash house brand called Brownsville - bodies like soft and mushy like balsa wood so the trem posts don't hold, sometimes even cracking the body wood. Real purdy though, before they self destruct.

Hello, if you are honest and fair to yourself then you would have taken this video down as this is your first time buying this one guitar from Thomann and you never mentioned being able to return or exchange the guitar at no extra cost ! Greetings from Austria
@thebaldshredder2 жыл бұрын
The return is not "at no extra cost" as you say. I would have to pay for return shipping, so I would lose at least $70. And everything I said in this video is 100% true and honest. The company even emailed me after this to apologize and said that I was right.

Well said, and every word rings true from H.B. to Gibson. Period. Who knows, maybe you just got a bad fluke of their product, maybe that is their standard. I have no experience with them, but either way to me what is unforgivable is lack of response to a paying customer. Anyone hear of customer retention? Strange concept i know, but why would you even consider giving their more expensive line a try if this is how you're treated. Gives the impression of "we already got that suckers money" kinda vibe. Not saying that is true, but it is a poor look. Don't blame you. Thank you for vid, have been researching them to consider buying 1.

Dang it, I was hoping you'd get the knock off slipknot guitar. It's the all black strat, reverse headstock with active supposedly emg knockoffs. My only experience with thomann/harley benton is the 1x12 speaker with a Chinese v30 (as opposed to the British v30). Was good. I would still buy from them again. Sucks they lost you. So when you write a D do you make sure it's flat in the middle of the curve ??.🤔 I never write a D with a flat. Even if it's a Db, D flat, I still write the D without any flat in the middle of the D. 😉😊 Also if it was a C is it really a C or just an O with the middle bit on the right missing 🤔. Or maybe it's a C with a flatter left side and not a D.😂🤣😂🤣

I couldn't tell who you were more mad at , the premature commenters or the guitar description lol. All in all it sounds like a fair review to me. My guess is they received thousands of e-mails from guitar players just looking to dumpster on them because of the price tag or because they copy xyz brand. They aren't going to lose sleep over someone who purchased on guitar. If it had been someone who they know is a big time customer or influencer with a large user base (not making a dig there) they probably would acknowledge it. Usually those product descriptions are written by someone who doesn't know much about guitars and is just given some buzz words to make it sound exciting. I have been on the fence about buying a HB guitar so it's nice to see someone giving a bit more of a fair review rather than some dopey KZbinr trying to cop free gear for an ass kissing video. Keep it up!
