Hi Phil...I like this new feature (or tweak), I've been trying it for a few hours. It makes the mixing a bit smoother. Every song has its own characteristics and here I can control it the way I need it. I mostly play house and techno...and I also find that the whole mix sounds much more coherent - especially with vocal tracks. Have a great weekend with a lot of music..

It already supports vst effect plugins on decks, and since you can route sample output to a spare deck, you can also use vst effects on samples

my stems aren't working when I load a track, as soon as I load a track the "EZRemix" became "Frequency" and It hasn't changed back since I updated it.

This thing was a bit whooshy when they first brought it in but i imagine this will get several improvements over the year as V.D.J. often does little tweaks as a matter of routine which are mainly coding improvements but sometimes the odd new or improve feature comes along.I have stemmed tracks on V.D.J and then used them in mashups i did with Serato.This is a great time to be djing.Just think what it will be like when we can go back to clubs, pubs and parties.

It really doesn't matter, they're all pretty similar - we sometimes recommend Serato just because we think it's probably the simplest to get started with

Does anyone have any recommendations or experiences with using this function with hardware? I’m looking to finally get a good controller, and stems is one of my main mixing techniques, but I would hate to sacrifice the performance pads for just stems and loose things like hot cues etc. Definitely not wanting to use faders. Bonus points if you recommend something with stand alone capability lol

That's one of the problems at the moment, when a proper "pro" level controller comes out that caters specifically to stems it'll be a game changer!

I know there is probably an updated video for this , but most of the interfaces do not have it i'm all updated i think , i have it on the old interface but the auto loop is not there . I am using the NVII and stems are on the pad's under the auto looper, so I have stems but auto loop is gone! so I have to use it on the software. another think with the nv in the onboard effects after the last update there is a stems effect and you can use the 3 knobs to change volume on vocals, melody, and HH's there is no onboard bleed function though so I need an interface with the pads and the stems functions w bleed the pads for auto . I really shouldn't have to run to the software every time i want to autoloop ! I bought the NV so I could pretty much ditch the computer most of the time .

You can use any controller with Virtual DJ as it is mapped for all of them. So take your pick! DDJ-800 may be a good one.

Has anyone noticed how much cpu stems uses ,i have a i5 processor and it is at 100% when stems are analysing the loaded track

I got a new gamer laptop with a decent graphics card/gpu. Since it's all based on machine learning/AI it runs much better on GPUs, where it's almost instant separation. On top of that the CPU is no longer under heavy use

hello Phiiiiiill can i get your opinion on why should i even consider Serato over VDJ? i'm a TRAKTOR user for over 10 years now , knowing TRAKTOR's future is not so bright at the moment , this "VDJ" software is FULL of super useful features more than Serato and Rekorbox combined and for a fraction of Serato's price.. but yet EVERY SINGLE Big name DJ is a Serato user.. what am i missing here?

More marketing dollars being spent on Serato and the fact that for many pro's it was their first taste of a DJ software that they could actually use live and they've stuck with it ever since - use what works for you don't worry about anyone else!

Good question Mo and there isn't really a good answer, the Reloop Buddy is the only controller out there made with Stems in mind and even then it's the Djay integration it was made for not VDJ

Get a gamer laptop. Stems separation is based on machine learning / AI, which runs much better on the GPU on a decent graphics card. So even on a cheap gamer laptop with a geforce card the separation is almost instant and doesn't use the CPU

So, VDJ just copy the A&H xone 4d/92 EQ-Filter section, put in the VDJ and making 5 pre-definied preset to the average po-electonic-retro songs. And then they want to ride the NI's STEM wave... :D But this is NOT THE REAL STEM mixing. it's just a fake copy. just try the NI's STEMS (they have free examples on their website) and then everyone realize this is just a bad joke. (a little tech info: NI's STEM files are multitrack files with 4 separated inside chanells. VDJ's "stems" are the just simple (one waveform) music tracks.) And I don't really understand why NI dont yet go to lawyers cause VDJ is misleading-scamming the peoples with this name using... :/ :P (so childish by the way)

No, this is very much new technology. It is not about frequencies, it is about parts - drums, hi hats, vocals (high or low) melodies. It is nothing like the A&H mixers. It uses AI and live digital processing. Stems, by the way, is a studio production term that pre-dates all of these more recent innovations.
