Just one thing.... You only need to copy the .fir file to the memory card. You don't need the folder which merely contains PDF instructions in multiple languages. You can also do the firmware update via EOS Utility (with a USB cable or wirelessly) and it will ask you to point to the firmware update file on your computer and update from there.

Does anyone know if its possible to update your FM by just using your USB C wire connected to your Mac. Have Nikon Z cameras. thanks

Hi, great video, I read that manufactures mention taking the lens off during the update, is that a big deal?

I don’t think it matters. There are now firmware updates for lenses so this bit of caution is probably to prevent any confusion.

Hi I enjoy your video ..I was try that on my new camera. but problem is sd card still write protection, I had so many how to remove write protection in different way..but still not working. Cf Card had no problem from other camera. Only SD card had problem. 🙈

Some SD cards have a physical switch on them that prevents writing. See if yours has that.

@@LRose-72 It could be a faulty SD card. If it's write-protected it won't let you save images to it. Maybe it's not write-protected and needs to be formatted. Have you tried formatting it with your computer?

@@cooloox yes I have 2 sd card with same brand called sandisk, both are new and I had formatted them , still same problem. Maybe I shall buy different brands?

There should be no reason why it won’t work. You can try another SD card.

I wish Sony would get on board and use memory cards and/or the Sony app to update their cameras. They’re method wastes so much time and has more steps than necessary. Not to mention they can’t keep up with Apple’s MacOS updates.
