Thank you so much for sharing. I have been so dizzy for so long, I have no idea how I am going to do these, but do these I will. I am so discouraged, which usually is not my style, but for some reason this time I am quite discouraged, maybe my body is healing itself. I pray so. I have been sick for so long, I have forgotten what it is to feel 'normal'. All I have gotten since 1997, from doctors and emergency room visits is "go to the psychiatrist." I am so thankful that the Lord makes us encounter people such as yourself who share their knowledge. I pray He sends you wisdom that can only come from above. Again, thank you so much for sharing.

I v a friend that has horrible vertigo many x ends in the ER, and she started going 2 a functional chiropractor and she says it is helping. We'll see. I hv no doubt that u will find help. Blessings.

@@lifeisgood-victoria796 I went for physical therapy but then I found out my ENT does more comprehensive vestibular testing - I haven’t gotten the results yet - I think I’ll wait for those and then maybe go to a chiropractor - I may see a neurologist , also - this is just such a miserable feeling - if I was still working, I would have had to quit …. I have been doing neck strengthening exercises, which seems to help

Hi Beth, I am thankful that I found that I am suffering from Pppd for last few years cz all my mri reports and ear test came normal and doctors told me it is because of stress. I took medicines but of no use so gradually I got used to such lifestyle with dizziness and stress, anxiety. Only few days ago i found that I have pppd and exercise can help cure it and become to normal.

Yes, once a day is great. You can do them all at once or break them up and do them at different times, whatever is most tolerable and works with your life/schedule the best.

When recovering from BPPV, are there any movements that should be avoided for life? I understand there is always the possibility to dislodge an ear crystal at any point, but once several weeks have passed, is it the best to continue with normal routines completely, or should downward dog or head positions below the horizon be avoided altogether, for only a few months, for life? I understand that your response is an opinion only. I was fairly active before I got BPPV (worked out 5x/week) and I'm wondering if I need to return to workouts with a permanent slightly handicapped mentality or slowly ease back into normal routines without absolute limitations...any thoughts are appreciated and I am working with a Vestibular Therapist and ENT (both have slightly different opinions).
@MovementFunction
@MovementFunction 2 жыл бұрын
This is an excellent question and the answer tends to vary greatly depending on who you ask and on your history. If you've only had one occurrence of BPPV and it is resolving well, then (in my professional opinion) you can begin to return to normal activities after a few weeks rest. The key is gradual return, very gradual return. In order to do downward dog for example, start with movements or positions that bring your head to about 45 degrees forward/side/back, then work toward 90 (horizontal), then work very slowly toward positions below horizontal. Gradually increase the angle, speed of movement, repetitions and duration. So, you might take one month of doing yoga 2-3 times/week with progressively lower head positions before you get to your first downward dog. If you are a runner, start by building up walking speed, then add 30 seconds jog, then 1 minute jog, etc., and build up to a 5 minute jog over the course of a month. That is the best way to return to previous activity without a major setback AND learn IF there are positions or movements that you really should avoid all together. All the best!

Greetings Dr. Wagner, I recently discovered your videos since I have balance problem. With one exception the other 6 were easy for me and I hardly used support. I failed the "one leg standing". I have Parkinson's decease. I exercise on a regular basis using videos of specialists. Their exercises help except for giving confidence for balance mainly standing on one leg. This is the reason that outside I'm using rolator since the surface is not copletely smooth. My question is: should I continue to your other beginner excersises since the other 6 in this video are very easy for me? Looking forward for your advice. Thank you.

Feel free to begin the intermediate balance video and continue practicing the single leg balance. My videos are meant to build on each other but it is very common for some exercises to be easier than others. Add in new ones that are challenging, leaving behind the easy ones.

Steve, yes, these exercises are appropriate for stroke rehab. I can't say how much improvement you'll see as there are many variables that contribute to overall recovery of balance and function following stroke. These exercises will help restore balance.

If I am doing the beginners exercise for a month How many times in a day should I do it I am having balancing problems for a while now Swaying when I am standing and also feel lightheaded most of the time Also get short amount of pain in both my ears Sometimes the right ear and sometimes the left For how long should I continue with the exercises I can feel a bit of improvement in my balance since I started the beginners exercise Thanks
@MovementFunction
@MovementFunction 2 жыл бұрын
Fatima Hassan, once a day is plenty for the balance exercises. Lightheadedness and ear pain suggest an inner ear issue... have you seen your primary care doctor and an ENT (ear, nose, throat doctor)? If you have vestibular dysfunction, you might benefit from doing the exercises in my beginner vestibular rehab video (after seeing your doctor to be sure these exercises are appropriate for you...). I am not sure what symptoms you are referring to. Since these exercises challenge the balance system, it is normal to feel off balanced with the more challenging exercises.
