I like Milwaukee products because they listen to their customers. Thank you

Tool still a daily edc for me. Picked up a few more. Note some examples are smoother than others.

I didn't realize they had changed it! Such a great tool, especially when on sale for $10.

This is a great update for that! I picked up another one a few weeks back and realized after I bought it the collar is added

Had the gen 2 with detention ball, lasted 9 days. Clip that holds ball gets caught on pants when inserting in jeans pocket.. returned and found gen1 ..
@hrdnfst9 ай бұрын
I haven’t had any problems with either. You have either the hog ring dislodging on the 1st gen. Or the ball detention getting caught on the 2nd gen.

I know that it shouldn't be an issue, but I had an issue with the bits always falling out. So what I did is I took some electrical tape and very tightly wrapped it around the detention collar 2-3 times, and it holds the bit in really well. So maybe that could also help you in your situation. Sucks that it's even a thing that happens, but I don't mind the little fix to make it work.

It’s a great update I purchase the the one with the ball retention and it works great 👍

I have three of the old ones and never have had issues. I love that it works perfectly with double sided wiha bits (one of the few edc tools that do, besides leatherman adapters, victorinox L bit wrench and edc ratchet, and the gerber slim dive). i hope they never go out of stock or just keep making small improvements.

I haven’t had any problems with either version. For no particular reason prefer the updated driver. I also like the Gerber Center drive and armbar drive for the extended bit driver.

I love the concepts Gerber was going with and I wanted to like them, but it seems like the main positive and unique thing about it isnt enough to outweigh everything else that seems lackluster about them. I hope they keep trying and improving. The price point is usually way off too imo

And I'm someone who desperately wants to see something like the quality of the surge or swisstool but with a 1/4" double sided bit holding extension.

This is great news. I held off on buying one due to the retention fault that folks reported. Thanks for this.

I just got mine it's going to be my every day carry on work days!
@hrdnfst2 ай бұрын
This has been my daily carry still. Like the driver option and I beat on the blade, when dull just replace.

They also changed some geometry with the spare blade holder because people had issues with it falling out too.

I’ll take a look more closely. Haven’t noticed issues with the spare blade.

Yes the new one with the ball detent is a massive improvement for me. I find it really snug, safe and smooth on mine right from the first use it was perfect.

I’ve had no problems with the old one. But prefer the update.

My new version caught an edge of a carburetor while screwing and it peeled the collar off... when the bit is in it it expands and reveals the edge of the collar.
@hrdnfst10 ай бұрын
I guess the old version won’t have that use case problem. Smooth on the outside.

Thanks for the update. I was hoping that the update would work with the double-sided bits for the 11 in 1 or the Klien bits.

Had some issues with the old one, lost the original bit to it. My request is that they nix the serrated tanto blade on the other version.
@hrdnfst11 ай бұрын
I prefer the utility version for the replaceable cutting edge. No need for sharpening. Can abuse edge and just change blade.

My little ball fell off!! Idk what to do 😣
@hrdnfst Жыл бұрын
With the ball detention. You should be able to take off the spring collar and replace the ball.
@shepherd37164 ай бұрын
The ball detent version is known to be garbage. The bearing easily comes out and is gone forever. The magnetic, 1st version is better.
@hrdnfst4 ай бұрын
I like the first version seamless shank. But also heard of the ring getting dislodged. I have no problems so far with either version. Daily carry the ball version currently.
@Panotaker3 ай бұрын
The first version wasn’t magnetic, it had a round clip inside that sometimes came off or got bent. The new version is worse because the clip gets caught on your pants and makes the ball fall out. I wish they had a magnetic version like most bit holders, but then you would have to carry separate bits, but I would rather do that and have a magnetic tip.
@hrdnfst3 ай бұрын
The only ones I see for sale these days are the ball detention version. The shaft seems deep enough to place a small magnet and use standard bits. The included double bit is larger slightly than standard 1/4 bits.

The one with the ball is terrible!! Buy the older version
@hrdnfst5 ай бұрын
I’m using the ball detention version daily. I haven’t had any problems with either version. But both versions can have a retention failure.

That's actually a pretty useful video. Great to know as someone hunting for the 6in1. By any chance, have you got any data on where one could look for these updates fasfbacks? Thanks a lot.
@hrdnfst Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I still see both around. It being the same product number, you won’t really know unless you look at the package itself.
