Man, this video really demonstrated some RGC lore I had no idea about! This man achieved the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer, was a successful food blogger, and is a NYT bestseller of multiple cookbooks! I'm actually not a great fan of Paleo dieting (I have not found the arguments that the foods our ancestors made was inherently more ethical or healthy to be compelling), but I do have a high interest in culinary anthropology regardless, so I might pick up that Heritage Cookbook ebook!
@washuai

Russ has mentioned dietary restrictions, gluten intolerance. As someone with gluten intolerance, yes, it's about health, but it isn't just some intellectual theory, it's more about necessity. You don't have to go full paleo to get gluten free, but there's some good cross over there. Those products definitely help give me options. It's understandable, how when someone runs into those kinds of dietary restrictions, they might rethink everything they're eating, to be proactive about not gaining additional restrictions. It's great most people don't have dietary restrictions. The unfortunate consequence is that makes it harder for people with them to get what they need. Thankfully, dieters (who should be focused on a healthy diet, not dieting) have been making those products for a long time. Without dieters, diabetics would pay more for fewer, sugar free options. While dieters do unintentionally create some dangerous issues for celiac and gluten free people, when people with negative perception of dieters, don't realize it's a necessity, not a choice for those patrons. Dieters, also help spread the availability and lower costs.pros and cons

To your point, humanity has evolved, our bacteria have definitely evolved. It depends. It's hard to go wrong with meats, veggies, fruits, nuts, in eating healthier and feeling better. Moderate In some cases this kind of thinking is really causing cruelty to cattle (a truly only grass fed is a starving animal, because they've adapted to the diet change).
@godminnette2
@godminnette2 6 ай бұрын
@@washuai Yeah I mean, I don't eat meat for ethical reasons. I also can't eat certain foods due to dietary restrictions. However, I look at the evidence and context for each thing I might eat as opposed to painting with a broad brush - something being traditional does not mean it is better for us to eat than something that was created in the last 50 years.

It would be a dream come true, making an awesome dinner, enjoy it on a sunny evening in Hawaii and talking about tech stuff. I love behind the scenes stuff like this! One of my small pro-tips for people with standing desks is to get a long power strip/surge protector, similar to what you'd use in a workshop, and mount it to the bottom of your desk (Stanley makes a good one - I'm currently using their SurgeMax Pro 9). It makes it much easier to make sure your cables can raise and lower with the desk if you just need to deal with that one primary power cable.

I love trackballs. I wish I was a thumb user, more options. I wish I could find a kailh solution. I busted the scroll third button on both my not so industrial afterall L Trac and my Elecom Deft Pro (it needs bearing swap since I bought it, besides) . I couldn't afford to try a Ploopy, so I've been making do with a G305 lightspeed for now, but I miss my trackball. I was tempted to give the Elecom another go, but there's no reason that part would not just bust again. They are cheaper than when I got mine, similar in cost to the light speed now, which has gone up. My rule for buying mice is $29.99 basic gaming. The only reason the two mice I got that were that was sales. If some games just allowed remapping (Which why doesn't two point hospital, for example ?) maybe they updated, since then, but I was 🤬, so I haven't checked back in a long time.

Very nice setup Russ! Love all the design changes you've made. Also the new set looks great! For your multi-cam setup, one thing that might be worth a shot trying is changing up the angle of your Elgato key lights. This might not be possible given your space constraints, and the fact that you are also lighting the tabletop below with those lights, but if you can separate your lighting so that your key light and your desk lighting are different, that will give you far more flexibility. Anyways, if you wanted, i would recommend, moving your main key light down a little, and rotate it slightly more in front of your face, so that the lighting isn't as harsh on the one side of your face. This will help brighten up your other eye, and also get rid of the harsh shadow your head casts on your shoulder. One way you could achieve this is by either moving that main key from the side of your desk to the back, so that its more directly facing you. Or a better alternative, would be to add an additional key light to that back of desk position facing you at an angle( if that makes sense haha), and then taking your existing key and angling it more towards your tabletop for the top down angle. That way you reduce the shadows in both shots. Anyways congrats on 500k, you're killing it man!
@RetroGameCorps
@RetroGameCorps 6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tips! I've already moved my lights a couple times since recording this footage, it's an eternal cycle for me. I am actually trying to encourage shadows in my shots to make them a bit more cinematic and unique, but I still need to experiment more. It's such a delicate balance between lighting myself and the table with limited space, and then ALSO trying to reduce screen reflections on the handhelds I'm filming. I'll figure out that perfect triangle of lighting someday :)

Hey Russ , i have a suggestion for the cable management for your standing desk. Just a small curtain with soft fabric and attach it with a velcro to the back side of the table. It will look much more tidy and it won't catch the cables if you measure the height right. 🤌

My man, I was in for the studio tour, but now I had to pause and go give my dog and little rat a big hug, because, damn, they really don't live nearly enough

I atarted following you about a year ago and learned a lot about emulation devices. Your videos helped me set up my Retroid Pocket 3+ that my wife gifted me by suprise because i couldn't stop talking about it 😅. And it's cool to see your growing career over time. I didn't even know you had published cook books! Keep up the great work, Russ.
