I appreciate your dialog about movement after surgery and your hand issues using a walker & crutches. I'll have to find some of those pads for my handles and readjust how far forward I think I'm leaning when moving. Great advice from your PT! I'm 2 weeks post-op (right hip arthroscopy to repair ossified labrum, cam resection, pincer resection, and capsulorrhapy) and appreciate you sharing your journey.

How are things going at this point? Were you able to find some pads? If not let me know and I can share a link to where my family got mine! Hope progress is going well!

@@DOCGIRLFITNESS I didn't end up getting the pads. Probably should have, but adjusting my forward leaning helped quite a bit. Currently, I'm using a cane anytime I go up and down stairs at home, and whenever I have a decent increase in pain or fatigue. I do my best to walk unassisted as much as possible. Some days are easier than others. Around Thanksgiving, I started having a persistent sharp pain where my hip and groin meet. I'm told a cortisone injection might help calm down muscles in that area, but reluctant to agree to do an injection at this time. Currently doing land and aqua physical therapy to improve mobility. Looking forward to taking longer walks! 🚶🏽♀️

I just had my follow up appointment. I was told I will need this exact surgery. The Pao and hip impingement fixing and Labral repair. I don’t know the date yet but I’m sooo nervous about it. Future #paosurvivor.

I am scheduled on March 2nd for a right hip arthroscopy, labrum repair, acetabuloplastly, and femoroplastly subspine decompression.
@DOCGIRLFITNESS3 жыл бұрын
Wow, many procedures ahead of you! Seems like your list of procedures is very similar to mine, minus the subspine deompression. Hoping for a speedy recovery for you and please let me know if there are any questions you have or anything you want to chat about leading up to your surgery next week! I'm also here for you afterwards, if you want to talk about recovery!

I appreciate your videos. I have to have right hip labral surgery soon. I torn mines and it isn't getting better. I also have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome so I'm nervous

Thanks for posting this. It was informative. One minor suggestion: try speaking in longer intervals. I don't think anyone minds an "uh" or "um", since these are ubiquitous in conversation. The constant editing was a bit distracting.

Are you able to provide info on what surgeon you chose, and how you went about making that choice? Thank you.
@DOCGIRLFITNESS2 жыл бұрын
For privacy/safety reasons I try not to share specifics about this part, but I will say the process of finding the right surgeon for me came through lots of trial and error! I got 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th opinions before making a decision, and went with the person who I felt really listened to me, was realistic with what my progress would look like, and also was persistent in making sure I was progressing appropriately. This week's video (which drops in an hour) is all about my progress 2 years after my first hip surgery, why I needed a surgical revision, and what my progress is now 11 months after my revision! I feel like that video answers this question in more detail as well. Hope that helps!

I just had this surgery 2.5 weeks ago, I was told not go past 90 degrees so I dont understand why you are doing those exercises. Was there a reason they said you can go past 90?

Great question! I personally just followed the advice of my specific surgeon, but I am not entirely sure why he gave me those specific instructions. As always, I recommend following exactly what your specific doctor says you need for optimal recovery! Best of luck in your hip journey!

I am in my second semester of radiology tech program. Unfortunately the longest break we have is 3 weeks. For 2 years straight. By 3-4 weeks I need to be able to get off my crutches for clinicals. Do we think this is possible?
@DOCGIRLFITNESS2 жыл бұрын
Great question! I 100% recommend talking to your doctor to determine the best way to manage clinicals and your hip recovery! Have you had your surgery yet? If not is it scheduled? I’m having a repeat surgery on my left hip next week (video up about it now) so I’ll be going through recovery soon as well! Rooting for you and hope all is well!

@@DOCGIRLFITNESS hi! Had it done 2 1/2 weeks ago. I have been so blessed so far with my recovery. I had labral tear repair which we found was completely torn. (My surgeon actually taped it so I could watch the repair!) and I had acetabuloplasty and femuroplasty. I’m really blessed so far with my healing. Good luck!
