About OLD FORMULA and NEW FORMULA Vallejo Metal Colors (VMC) I internet researched this a while ago because I did not want to buy OLD FORMULA if I was in a shop looking at a shelf.. Reason for that being that the OLD FORMULA was very fragile with respect to masking, and i do a lot of that. I found out that Vallejo Tweeted in October 2020 that they ,,improved the formula for better resistance against masking and better flow through the airbrush" At that time, modelers also noted that Vallejo added a mixing ball in the bottle; it says so on the back: Contains mixing ball. Take a look at time frame 3:34 of this video, you will see that all 3 bottles have mixing balls, these are therefore likely all NEW FORMULA paints. When Will Pattison reviewed the Vallejo Metal Colors in 2015, that was the OLD FORMULA, and one of his comments was that he was missing an mixing ball or as you may call it an agitator ball. It is my personal impression (not a fact that Vallejo confirmed), that Vallejo at first did not put NEW FORMULA on the bottles containing NEW FORMULA, probably because theyd id not want people in shops not buying the old left over stock by clearly labelling new stuff. And they likely wanted to see how the consumers reacted on the product. Then later, when there was a "buzz" about this NEW FORMULA, they likely decided to kick up sales by putting NEW FORMULA on the bottles. makes sense from a sales point of view. But this is just my speculation and I may be wrong. Another interesting thing is that all NEW FORMULA labeled bottles of VMC, that I have, have a "not shaded on top mixing ball" printed on the bottle. The bottles that I have that do not have the NEW FORMULA label, have a "on top shaded mixing ball" printed on the bottle, like the ball is falling. However... on frame 3:34 of your video, to my surprise, the left side bottle is not labeled NEW FORMULA and it has a "not shaded on top mixing ball" printed on the bottle. So again, this is not hard facts, and/or Vallejo is not consistent in their labeling of paint bottles (there are documented cases of wrongly labeled paint bottles) But... given the fact that all your VMC paints have mixing balls, I would say it is rather likely that they are all NEW FORMULA> I hope this clarifies a little and please share if you have correcting or other information. P.S: Keep up the spirit, I agree with your position on rude and negative comments. Comments should be for improvement and/or gratitude expression. As Will says: Much Love!

Great series and your videos have convinced me to go for it with Vallejo Air (a lot of negative views on these paints and I am such a beginner. I want low smell). I am a little confused about the post painting process from your videos and maybe it is different from the metal and air paints. Is it your recommendation to always use Gauzy Agent Shine Enhancer after painting followed by the corresponding varnish? I like simple answers and yes I won't produce the same quality output as you but I enjoy the process. As for the rant -- Amen too! and keep those videos coming!

Dino, glad you like the videos and you are gonna give Vallejo model air a try. Regarding your question, I should mention I am working on a full build video where I go indepth on my process for model building. Should I have it done soon! Here is a basic break down of my process painting and finishing: 1) Primer the model, 2) paint the model and at this stage do any bleaching or post shading that I want, 3) protect the paint with the Gauzy agent, 4) decaling, 5) seal the decals in with another misty coverage of the gauzy agent, 6) weathering (oils, pigments, etc), 7) final finish (either flat cote or satin cote depending on the local I want). Hope this helps!

@@arewethereyetmodeling2196 A great answer and I am looking forward to your video. I am finishing up my last model using tamiya lacquer sprays (great product but the smell just kills me and not very precise) so I am "graduating to airbrushing". What could possibly go wrong?

Nice rant! If you are not already a member you need to join Scale modellers Critic Group where douche bags are shown the door or thrashed publicly.

@@arewethereyetmodeling2196 Scale Modelers Critique Group. Kind of like a bunch of football coaches but very helpful. Not a "safe space" but douchebaggery is either publicly humiliated or given nice long suspensions. Good balance of hard fathering and justice.

Did the comment you referred to get deleted? Not sure if the commenter is even a modeller, but…. When I was very young we played sometimes a ‘game’ called ‘knock and run’. We would knock on some random persons front door and immediately run away. Just for the fun of annoying someone we did not even know. Childish and cowardly. This is just the same game, but the modern day internet version….. Keep your chin up!

Mike, I deleted the comment. I gave the person one week to reply and after that I deleted it. I understand your point...but this is hobby is my joy. I hate modelers who try to take joy out of my hobby. I used to see it everyday at my local IPMS. Their attitude of "my way is best and if you don't agree you are wrong". It made so many people leave the club and it made the younger generations not want to be involved. am not interested in putting up with that here. If that person wants to be a miserable douche bag...fine, just do it somewhere else.

@@arewethereyetmodeling2196 I understand. I do not share your specific experience, but I do understand your position. It’s a pity the good guys with the constructive criticism get heard less.
