Was there this much belly-aching about winning in the PL when MU won 7 of the first 9 seasons including a Treble and a 3-peat? Or in the first 20yrs of the PL, MU won 13 of them or 65% of the PL? OR when LFC was running English top flight in the 1970s and 80s? Remember, during those times, both LFC and MU were, on the whole, outspending their competition 2x and in some seasons, as much as 3x which was lauded and applauded by the fans and the media. When people say City buy all the best players is wrong, Aka wasn’t the best CB but has been coached to be a top CB, KDB was loaned out and sold and came to City and was coached, Sterling wasn’t the finished article when he went there but was coached to be a decent PL goal scorer. Players that they buy other big teams in the league can go for them and get them because they aren’t coming from major teams In Europe. As long as teams are pushing City to the last game of the season, it's not a monopoly. If City were winning by a large margin every season then yes it would be. It's down to the other teams to pull their finger out and do more though. I'm not saying I expect multiple teams to challenge for the title, but in 2 games a season each and every team has the ability to try and stop City and not just roll over. So it's not just down to the Arsenal's and Liverpool's to make it competitive, it's down to every team to have an impact on the title race

Plus what is this myth about them having a massive squad and having the luxury of buying young players for the future? They have one of the smaller squads in the league and lost mahrez, gundogan,laporte,cancelo and palmer last year.

The reason why Liverpool did not win a fourth league title in a row in 1984-1985 is threefold obviously Everton got stronger compared to what they were two or three seasons previously, Graeme Souness signing for Sampdoria in 1984 after the European Cup Final never playing a match again afterwards for Liverpool and also Ian Rush being injured for the first ten league games after the Charity Shield at Wembley in the August.

I’d have to agree it’s a generational issue. I watched Man U win the UCL and the 3 peat. My brother has no idea that happened, he doesn’t even know who Arsene Wenger is, let alone his legacy in football. A lot of My younger friends have their memories of football starting when Aguero scored the league winning goal for City. I know some people who think AC Milan have always been a below average midtable club trying to fight for recognition in Serie A. It has to generational and definitely great planning by the head shed at City. Clubs used to get players by season as they deemed fit but now they need to plan 3-4 years in advance financially and style wise. Even Real Madrid plan that way. You don’t just get their line up by frantically purchasing a squad. 🤷🏽
@eddiecorado16353 ай бұрын
I’d also be aware of the fact that a lot of the traditionally top teams are in rebuilds and are shifting. I doubt City will dominate for that long. When Man U, CFC, LFC finish building it will truly be game on, not to mention Spurs have figured out how to make an endless amounts of money, Villa have figured it out, Newcastle are figuring it out. The big thing is media need to step off the throat of their star footballers every week.

Sheffield spent some money, 50m. Not a kings ransom. In the Portuguese league there are only 4 teams with an entire squad worth more than 50m euros. As an Arsenal supporter it worries me that we may buy apparently world class players from that league, for considerable sums of money, yet they can't really be proven at all, can they? Nobody seems to talk about this, but EPL proven has to be worth a substantial premium imo

No one will really truly care about City or will they turn into a legacy club, because they are owned by an actual country. Imagine the American government owning a club. If USA bought Luton, then everything they'd eventually win would feel hollow because it isn't right. Same with City. Being owned by an actual country is mad.

@@neilt1889 Rangers are the exact same with soft tissue injuries. We got a new managers and they couldn't believe there were so many casualties. He has persisted in talking about it in the latter part of season - in very cryptic ways at times - but admitting he was exasperated in all his years in football nothing like these injuries. Said things will need to change big time next season medical staff, there will be changes. As you say, it's no just 1 doctor, there's a team of them in the so called medical staffing. Something not right. When you said wilder getting rid I identified immediately. Poor Olly Mcburnie injured how many times this season ??? He should be in the Scotland squad. Not picked is mental. The injuries you guys have had are always key players, too. I've heard wilder on match of the day talking about it.. I followed United since the first time they came up in prem. Rooted for them. 2nd team. No any of the big money teams. Wilder done brilliant first time round, too. He gets the best out players. I reckon it's disgraceful. It's mad up here. Even celtics tea bar workers and cleaners are supporters. They don't tolerate otherwise. Our club is really struggling 😢 in many ways just now. As a Brit living in Mexico, the idea city aren’t big globally is laughable. I see city shirts EVERYWHERE in North America. People I know are travelling to England just to see city, waking up at 5am to watch city not United liveroool or arsenal. People need to get that narrative out their minds. Leave England and you’ll see it
