I participated in a rally several months ago and met a lot of really cool people. Funny thing about rallies are that you need a navigator. I didn't know that at the time so for 500 miles I followed someone at all times because there was no way i was going to be able to read a pile of printouts from google maps. After that the guys at TexasLamborghini.com donated a 2010 GPS Stereo for me to have put in the car. I was stoked because that GPS was available at the time my car was made and with it being a numbered Carbon I didn't want to deviate from the GM parts whenever possible. I ordered the GPS antannea and we got to work.

Nice video, I just installed a nav radio from another 2008 vette I bought on eBay on My 2008 vette that had the radio like You had. I was able to unlock it in 5 minutes with a Tech 2.

I tried to install a Pioneer radio to my C6. What a pain !!! I was unaware the vette needed special wire harnesses.... So I installed the upgraded stock radio. I am not pleased with the sound quality but, I am happy to keep it stock. The dealer charged me $160.00 to program the radio. Everything works. Next step bass speaker with amp....

Great video. Just several quick questions I just purchased a 2007 base Corvette with the LT3 option package that includes Bose. 1) Do you have the part number on the antenna so I get the proper antenna if there are choices 2) What is the part number on the navigation unit. So that I purchase the correct part number for this also. Otherwise great video that was easy to understand and will help upgrade my corvette.

I realize you got this unit for free, but to be honest, it's such a bad unit, I would have just kept the stock downgraded unit if I were you. I'm looking to upgrade my stock GPS unit with a Pioneer or Kenwood double din unit. They are so much better than the gaudy, cumbersome stock unit, which they didn't bother to upgrade over the 9 years of the generation. Even when other GM models were getting much better units, they kept this one the same, which was woefully outdated even when it came out in 2005.

Great video! My two question are: 1) What kind of double DIN adapter did you use and buy it from? I've seen some that look super stock and they are flush on the dash, but I've seen others that look totally like crap. Yours looks great! 2) What needed to be done and what adapters or wire mods we're done to connect the stock wires and harnesses from the car into the new head unit?.. and how do you even know what the wire does what, and is what, and connect to where, or does the new head actually come with harness adapters from GM connectors and harnesses? this is an oem optioned radio so its a direct plug and play as its just a higher end radio for the other trims levels

Nice job on the radio!!! Now how about turn signal/steering wheel? Whenever I make a right turn in my C6 my brights come on...doesn't bother me at all, but Officer Obe doesn't like it.

I replaced my turn signal switch, your maybe worn out too. I tear off apart i noticed that it worn. It has a cheap plastic made in it. You can buy a in autozone for a better quality for 46 dollars.

Then the nav unit you have is from a 2005-2007. 2008-2013 have steering wheel capability. Google the p/n on your head unit, that will tell you what year you have.

hey Julio, I'm not sure what year it became a standard feature for the Z06 but yes it was a stock feature on my 2011. I know that my buddies 2008 doesn't have the switch. There is a connection in the fuse box that you can tap a switch into and get the same result if you don't have that switch.

Far too much!! At least an hour, and I've heard up to 3!! At $90+ an hr, you're money ahead if you just buy a Tech 2 clone from China. It literately takes 5 minutes to clear the vin using the Tech 2, which is what the dealership uses. But once you buy your own for under $300 with the GM module (can purchase saab and other modules as well) you can make thousands of changes and adjustments to your car.

I believe I will have either the unit dealer or the guy that maintains my car (John's Corvette Service, Laconia NH) Do the installation. My hand do not work that well any more (Agent Orange poison) and I would probably break the connectors.
