How to install kitchen light fixture:
1. Turn off power to the electrical box at the breaker panel in the basement.
2. Attach a crossbar with a threaded nipple onto this electrical box. The light fixture will be held up from this nipple via a decorative nut that gets screwed onto this nipple.
3. I’ve got the light fixture dangling from my should while I connect the wires.
4. There are 3 black wires going to the 3 light sockets and I need to connect these altogether with the black wire, which is the hot wire, coming out from the ceiling. After screwing on the orange wire nut, I quickly checked to make sure that all the wires were securely connected.
5. Next, I gathered all 3 white wires going to the 3 light sockets and connected them to the white wire, which is the neutral wire, coming out from the ceiling. Make sure that that stripped ends are all aligned and into a tight bundle that will fit inside the orange wire nut. Again, make sure that all the wires are attached securely.
6. Lastly, connect the copper ground wire from the light fixture with the ground wire coming out from the ceiling using a smaller wire nut.
7. Push the wires into the box a little bit, and get the nipple from the crossbar to come through the hole in the canopy, which is the cover piece at the top.
8. Screw the decorative nut, also known as the finial, onto the nipple to hold the ceiling fixture up in place.
