I cant wait for battery technology to make a great leap. Imagine all the things that will come. I was thinking of a way to rig gasoline generator up to battery in flight. But i dont have engineer degree :,( I think drones are one place where a 3d printer could be of above average value.

Question about wire connections from motor to wire to main board.. are they wired different on each side ? Meaning are they all positive to positive negative to negative ? The new main board I got was missing the plastic cover/clip over the pins . But did seem like one side was + 2 - and other was + 2 - . Witch doesn't make sense to me but I dont know if that's how a drone is wired up ..thanks

I can certainly appreciate the need to have longer flight times and shorter charging times as 5 hours to charge a battery is crazy, of course there are rapid chargers that will charge it in an hour, but that doesn't give you longer battery life. I"m curious to know if the 12 minutes flight time I've heard about with the stock battery includes recording video? When you did your flight time test with your mod did that include recording video or not? I suppose if the 12 mins is without recording video and the mod is, than it's well worth considering the mod if you don't screw up your drone in the process, not everyone has the guts to do that kind of mod I might but that's only after I've opened the chasis to swap a motor or something I do like the fact that the Promark like the Syma quads have disconnect motors that don't need soldering. Going back to the mod if all you get 7 minutes more flight time without recording than I'm not sure it's worth risking damaging components, nevertheless it's a good mod to try if you have the experience to do it.

I was thinking another battery might increase flight even longer 50C 2S 6200mAh 7.4V RC Lipo Battery Pack Deans Plug But will it burn out the motors? What do you think, a little longer in length 137vs 95 can extend the battery slot so that it's evenly balanced. Slightly heavy 280 v 224 50ç what do you think?

How do I make the battery able to connect to the drone. Spade Connectors?
@EngineersEscape6 жыл бұрын
Hello Collin Sierer. Yes. I used 2 female spade connectors which i bent out slightly. AKA quick disconnect pairs if you get the male terminals too. You can find a link in the description to them.

The upgraded battery is nice but when it comes to someone like me who doesn't know much about such things. I would have a problem with the modification of the drone itself I didn't quite follow it of course I am a disabled older person not tech savvy at all so I would probably ness it up I like your previous video on the fast charger think I could do that

Can you use any kind of 7.4 volt 2s lipo battery? I have noticed there may be a big difference in continuous discharge rate, the one you are using here is 60C, so is there a minimum and/or maximum rate for the copter to function properly?
@EngineersEscape6 жыл бұрын
Hi Palle Hansen. Thanks for the questions. No, you shouldn't just use any 7.4V 2s LiPo battery in the drone. I chose this one for several reasons including price, physical size, weight, and yes, the continuous current it would safely supply. Unfortunately, since the stock drone battery doesn't have a C rating on it, I had to go by something else. I figured the Promark P70 was fairly similar. That one is a bit lighter and uses a 2500mAh 25C rating. If you multiply those two values together, you will get 62500mA continous current. I would probably stay above this value, maybe above 70,000mA or 80,000mA just to be safe. There is no maximum cutoff. You could also use an ammeter to measure the current the drone is actually using with the stock battery to give you a better idea, but I didn't have one that could measure more than 10A without blowing a fuse!
@pallehansen11456 жыл бұрын
Ok, nice to know! So a 40C would probably also do the trick?
@EngineersEscape6 жыл бұрын
How much charge (mAh) does the battery hold?
@pallehansen11456 жыл бұрын
Not sure, haven't bought a replacement yet, so i was trying to figure out the best possible solution. At least comparable to the stock battery (2500 mah) but probably more in the line of the 4200 mah like you did. I have been playing around with the thought of trying a record breaking 6000 or even 8000 though. I know it can take the extra weight (about 300 grams extra actually) from watching payload tests done on the drone, and I have even found some that might not take as much fitting, if any, as this 4200 did in the side. Only problem is, they are up to 135 mm in length, and I'm afraid it will shift the weight of the copter too much backwards, if it extends too far out from the body. Still, I'm tempted to try it out, since i don't even think i need to mod the battery case to try it. from my measurements of the body, it might just slide right in (battery is 135×44×24 on the 8000 mah). Do you think you might be able to extend the battery case for a couple of cm in the back, if you clear some of those taps out of the way and cut out the bottom of the case? Oh, and they are only 40C...
@EngineersEscape6 жыл бұрын
In short, as long as you have at least the 2500mAh, then yes 40C should be more than enough. The main thing to consider in this regard is damage to the battery and safety. So, when you try your battery out, be sure to feel it every once and a while to make sure it is not very hot. A bit warm is normal. The long answer: Assuming the above mentioned 80,000mA is more than good. If the charge was 2500mAh: 80,000mA/2500mAh= 32C or greater is good. If the charge was 4200mAh: 80,000mA/4200mAh= 19C or greater is good. The larger the batteries though, typically the larger the C rating also. You can read more about this calculation here: www.commonsenserc.com/page.php?page=c_ratings_explained.html BTW, you might search for a "Shorty LiPo", as this is what mine is classified as. These type seemed to be closer to the size of the battery compartment without being super long and sticking out. Also, I think you could modify the battery case however you want without much issue. The main issue I would think would be with the heavier batteries, even though the drone may be able to lift them, the flight time may not scale up as much as desired. And if you find one that works and fits in the compartment without having to modify the drone, please share so that we can let everyone else know about it also. Thanks again.

Hey looking to buy this GPS drone. Like features, distance, stability aspects. Found brand new on eBay for $70 with goggles. From your experience with it, well worth it for a beginner's hobby? Currently own a sharper image s dx3, dx4, & now getting a warranty replacement dx5 for a bad dx4 of mine. Your opinion counts. Thx!!

That's a really good price for all the features it has. And I really like mine. The problem is that it seems many people have had issues with this model. I am not sure I would buy it unless you can return it if there is an issue. Just my honest opinion.

Pretty good....way to burn the motors out prematurely. It would make more sense to upgrade to brushless motors but, thats not as easy as just replacing motors so.. idk
@dude88696 жыл бұрын
Yep, many manufacturers tell you brushed motors should only be run so long and there has to be a cool down period before reapplying power.
@nicktheflash16 жыл бұрын
The Battery upgrade will not burn out the motors prematurely, it will allow a longer and better flight time. To upgrade to brushless requires replacement motors controllers and modifying the mounting frame to securely fit the brushless motors. The high cost is not worth the time and effort. Upgrading to a model including brushless motors would be a better option.
