Sweet video. I love the idea of repurposing ryobi 40v batteries for building sweet rides on a budget. I’m planning on building an electric skateboard with x2 4ah ryobi 40v batteries. I’ve already ordered the battery adapters from eBay. I’ve also watched the video where you upgrade the power wheels too. Great work keep it up.

Relocating the batteries to the rear helps with the wheelies. Thanks for showing this video.

These batteries give the scooter much more power :) Still working to this day, enjoy riding it all the time.

You mounted the motor under the bar and stock is above.

I did an over-volt with 36v using lithium and burned my motor out and a few uses. I can’t imagine yours will last any longer than mine at 40v.

My motor is a larger after market motor, 350 watt versus 230 watt. I ride my scooter quite often and it's still going strong. Probably have 25 hours on it so far. I'm surprised actually too!

Mine is an E300 with a 350w that burned. Just bought a 500w and hope it holds better than the last one. Nice set up though, good luck.

I’m gonna put a 50cc 2 stroke motor on mine because it is only $60 and it has a clutch

@@adonis4034 the motor speed controller will have a battery input set of wire, red and black. Hook them right to that.

I'd start with a battery upgrade first! You'll see a pretty good improvement with that!

I am building literally the same setup as u are 36v 350w motor and a woostar 36v 800w speed controller with a 40v 4ah 190sum watt ryobi battery. Mine limps and turns off if too much throttle… how did u add another 40v lol i want to add a 18v Milwaukee i got there but is it worth it lol

I just wired them in parallel so the it wasn't too hard on each battery (split the amps between each one). I had to weld that custom battery shelf to fit both batteries.

Yeah, that would be fine. The more amp hours the battery has the longer the runtime. 2ah vs 4ah v 6ah

I really want to do this with a really big motor i have sitting around. But I want to gear it up. I'd it possible to pair two of those esc's together to divide the heat?

I dont think that would work, you could just buy a bigger ESC, they have large high quality ones now. They are expensive though.

Not these batteries, but there are many batteries that would. I just wanted to use what I had laying around already.

Can you just replace the motor and batteries and not the speed controller or will it not work?

Usually the stock speed controller can't handle higher voltages. So it's best to get a speed controller that won't burn up with 40volts. The stock one only handles 12volts.

I just did the same thing but with only one battery. I’m having trouble, when I hit full power it’s shutting down... any ideas ?

I wired them in parallel so it's 40v with double capacity. If I wired them in series it would be 80v.

Do you think that speed controller in the motor could handle a 56 V battery I’m asking because I had the same set up and I really want to put the 60 the 56 V battery to it

The stock speed controller, no. They have so many replacements/upgrades online available. Maybe the motor can but probably not.

@@Jasonoid I upgraded my speed controller to a 36volt looks like what you have. And my throttle. And I have the motor u have . Then I have two 36 volt hoverboard batteries

The motor you link to is rated at 24v, but it can handle 40v?

Also keep in mind the battery is advertised as 40 volts but that is max charge, nominal voltage is 10 18650 in series at 3.6 volts each = a 36 volt battery

Question if I got the Ryobi batteries would I have to upgrade the control board or can I pass with just the battery upgrade or will that short it out

You can try to run the stock motor controller on the Ryobi batteries, it might cause issues. The speed controller I put in this scooter was cheap and works awesome, link in the video description!

Depends on how good the batteries are. On two good batteries I've riden over 5 miles and still had battery left. Some of my batteries don't last as long. Also the faster you drive the more battery it uses. Thanks for watching!

They work well. These batteries can take 1500-2000 cycles!

E300 and E200 have the same frame, just smaller tires on the E200. Those are the only ones that will fit the larger motor.

@@shdisbsjwvevs the motor linked in the video description was the biggest I could fit by using the stock mounting location. If you want to build a new frame you could put in a bigger motor
