Proper work. But I can't believe it took all day to fit five singles. I had to make up plywood false works to do the cable bending for a 1kA supply. Took 3 days to get it all on the wall. Parallel 300mm singles IIRC. You need to get those lugs correct in every way. That was without a power bandsaw too. Ah. The good old days. Keep the videos coming.

Main earth 70mm ? it should be no less than half the size of the neutral conductor on a TNCS
@gloveyourway20003 жыл бұрын
It depends on what method you use to calc the earth cable size. You could use the adiabatic equation, and it may have dropped a cable size (ie 50 instead of 70mm2). Though you can't really win if the DNO says you need to use a specific size (despite what you or I may think)... I'd be curious why 150mm2 single core cables were selected for a 315A supply...being heavy handed with various derating factors never hurt anyone I guess!
@tomorichard3 жыл бұрын
@@gloveyourway2000 the half size rule is to cater for diverted neutral currents in the event of broken pen. The DNO guy mentioned the additional rod laid in the road. This is prob why they arnt to worried as worse case scenario most of the diverted current will travel that path 🤷♂️
@gloveyourway20003 жыл бұрын
@@tomorichard That doesn't sound right. Earth cable sizing (as noted in BS7671) is done on the basis of short circuit protection (hence why you can size the earth cable using the adiabatic equation or use sizing tables). A PEN fault (typically) occurs on the supply side (ie for this video, a PEN fault would occur upstream of the 315A fuses, and be a DNO issue to resolve). The rod (I believe) is a requirement of the TNCS earthing system, whereby you need to earth the neutral and various points along the distribution pathway to ensure a low impedance back to the transformer.
@tomorichard3 жыл бұрын
@@gloveyourway2000 you are correct. Thank you for picking me up on that. I had it in my head PME main earthing could not be sized via the adiabatic equation due to the worry of diverted neutral currents and had to sized via selection. However I was thinking of the requirement of sizing main bonding with respect to the incoming neutral.

Where does one start no health and safety with no eye protection when cutting , no testing making sure it’s dead . Plus when you was crimping your cables the lugs where way to big for cable plus I would of used flexible cable it makes life much better when you have a tight spaces before you know it all’s kick off yes flexible cables are approved by the electric company’s using as mains tails because we did a job using 300mm flexible cable on job in Wales .
