You can use velco strips instead of drilling holes. Stick the velco onto the wall and the back of the amplifier, then attach them together, it has a strong bond.

Another great video as always 👍A little fiddley as in an awkward position but gives people the confidence to have a go at jobs they normally think are too difficult. Explained really well and should help some to have a go if they're thinking about upgrading.

Cheers Mark.... yeah awkward but doable in the end.

Hi Ian. Very helpful and interesting vlog. One for us to think about doing in our van. Good to see you looking a little better - hope you're now fully recovered, or well on the way to it. Thanks again. George and Trish

Hi Ian. This is a great Idea really handy for tuning the tv as the app doesn't always work. Thanks Phil🙂👍

Got sick of the app... lot easier with this upgrade.

I've changed for the V5 also, makes finding a signal so much easier. But I didnt have to drill new holes as it was a straight swap using same screw holes. Great vlog 👍
@ForTheLoveOfCaravans3 жыл бұрын
Yeah.... my V2 was about two thirds the length of the V5 so needed to drill a hole.

Hi Ian, Thanks for the video its very much appreciated. I am looking for advice on the actual power supply to the amplifier, as in were can you actually connect the wires to as they have no plug? Is it possible to connect the wires to a 12v connector that you would use for a cigarette lighter sort of socket?

Hi Ian, Upgraded my amplifier to a VP5 about 5 years ago and it makes like so easy when adjusting the aerial by watching the signal finder change colour. Where does your radio aerial cable connect? Cheers Rob
@ForTheLoveOfCaravans3 жыл бұрын
No wire for the radio... I just use the little black aerial on the off side of the caravan.

I find the best thing to do is turn the amplifier boost right down (anti-clockwise), then rotate the antenna and you will see the led start at red and move to green when in the right direction, then turn the boost up to maximum.
@ForTheLoveOfCaravans3 жыл бұрын
Will try that... thanks Mike.

They do put things in the most awkward of places. I am only 5ft tall, so have to use my folding step, just to turn the blooming thing off, when we are leaving for home.

Indeed they do as I found out here. Tight fit for a 51 yo overweight man like myself.

Since you do not have a 3rd TV point or a FM aerial, why not do a straight swap for the VP4, which also has the signal finder, then you wouldn't have to drill any holes at all?
