Upgrading Kubota top link!!!

In this video I change my top link to a quick adjust acme thread top link!!! I have used two other types of top links and I wanted something that was cheaper than installing hydraulic style but better than the stock top link. I found one at my local tractor supply that I was able to modify to work with my tractor that has increases the efficiency of adjusting the top link.
This video will be in line with the other tractor modification videos.

You found a creative solution, I stumbled across your video because I need to similarly modify my cat 1 top link to have a cat 0 ball on one end (for garden tractor size mold board bottom plow). I plan on cutting off a cat 1 ball and replacing with cat 0. What you really want/need is an hydraulic top link. So much easier to adjust.

Awesome idea. I have seen a ratchening chain binder used to make a top link.

Came across your videos looking up Kubota. I like your upgrades and attachment reviews. I would like to mention you may want to try welding with your machine DC rev. Polarity electrode pos. stick with 3/16' or 1/8" LH 7018 when you need a quick and strong weld like on your adjustable link. Not that the tig won't hold, I just think the stick is a better choice for heavier welds. My tig inverter really welds sweet when welding in the stick mode. Just thought you may want to try it. by the amount of play you have in the top link thread I think you should check how much thread you have left inside the barrel. If it does come apart when you are using the PTO you can do some very expensive damage. If you are short on thread then you could just cut one end off and add an appropriate length of bar. By the way you can convert cat 2 down to cat one with a simple sleeve for just a few dollars

there is a stop built in to the top link that i modified to stop it from coming apart. i thought about making an adapter to work with he sleeves as you suggest but i determined that this was a much cleaner way to do it. less moving part to have to deal with when removing it.

I have a mix and match set of implements (as one often does!) and so I need the sleeve adaptors, however, since I suppose the rest of your implemnts are cat1 you could have just tack welded the sleeves into your new top link. The job's done now but it might help someone else. My situation came about when I changed my linkages to quick links on the lower and hydraulic on the upper.

Hi Daniel,, I have a Kubota L2501 and would like to get a ratchet type toplink like you show in this video,,, I live on Vancouver Island. My local dealers and everywhere I have tried, comes up blank. Can you please tell who your tractor supply is locally. Thank you

Tractor supply I believe sells a link that is hydraulic minus connecting to units hydraulics.... I cannot remember proper name.. its either TS or northern tool

The welding machine correct, if you’re a hobbyist and your only gonna be welding every once in a while that machine it’s great. You won’t find a machine on the market that has as many features as it does for the price. If your welding more than once a week I’d really recommend looking into a different and more expensive machine.
