You can buy the black screws from most luthier shops. You want the imperial thread ones, the Squier comes with metric

EMGs are sick dude! I was really lucky with Guitar Center. Last September as you know with COVID it was slim pickens on new guitar stock. Knew nothing about guitars other than it had to be a Tele and it had to be white. Ordered an Affinity, received it and it was electrically DOA and that was the last of their stock in Arctic White. They checked stock on the Squire Contemporary and that was a big zero. The manager asked if I’d be interested in the Jim Root as they just received 6 at their warehouse in Indiana. Being new I told her $500 was. Not in my budget. She asked if we split the difference between the two she would order one up for me. So, I figured $365 if I had to sell it I’d lose nothing. I haven’t been able to put it down! This puppy rocks with passives, but 81/60s are definitely in my future. Thanks for the awesome video 🤘🏻

That’s boss man! They are such good guitars I’m very happy with mine and with the upgrades! And so lucky man to get one I seen they are going for stupid money on eBay an tha but I would love the fender one! Hopefully one day if the price is right 😂 but I have too many guitars lol

Great video! thinking about doing the same mod myself, just wondering though would it be possible to achieve the wiring that jim root uses with whats provided with the pickups when bought new or does it have to be special made?

You should deffo do it! and probs I just couldn’t find any wiring diagrams for it so that’s why I ended up buying a custom made one!

the jim root tele already comes with active emg pickups... whats your point of replacing them?

The Squier want doesn’t.. so that’s why I replaced them

Nope I bought a whole custom solderless kit off eBay from some seller I messaged him asking what I wanted so it was one volume one jack and a 3 way selector and they made it for me. Cos I couldn’t find any diagrams on the internet for Jim roots set up wiring.

Any guitar with emg 81bridge pickup will sound like a jim.root guitar because the emgv81 has a distinct and unchangeable signature tone. If someone wants to have the jim root tone,,get any guitar with emg 81 on it.

I actually got 1,of the last 6 Guitar Center received. It’s a textbook mod platform and to make things worse Fender just bumped the price $200 on their version.
