What is the solution you use to clean the LCD screen? Awesome video and thank you so much for all the close-ups, very helpful!

fyi. you can fit the thick 3000mAh battery into a slim backplate with an iflash quad, if you're willing to grind away the hdd holding pin behind the display. the only thing i had to change for that was the order of the assembly, with the battery being sandwiched in between the iflash quad and the motherboard.

I think I would prefer the fatter case for the overall for aesthetics and I do enjoy that I don't need to mess with the internals too much.

I’m 90% sure the little leg that glues to the frame from the click wheel flex is to give a good ground reference for the capacitive touch used for the scrolling. Same with the kinda foil thing behind the click wheel on the main board that’s also attached to the frame, and a pad on the Hold switch flex PCB. Some aftermarket click wheels without the leg seem less sensitive (annecdata)

That makes sense. I wish that there was some reference or documentation on how to replicate the "glue" that was used to attach it back onto the frame. All I had at the time was kapton tape unfortunately.

I was very afraid of ripping the ribbon cable the first time I opened up an iPod, but after doing it so many times you can just pop those open and pull them out pretty easily without actually having to worry about ruining them. I just pop the clips open in one go usually with my finger nail but maybe a plastic tool that comes with a lot of repair kits. No real need to do it very carefully.
