Upgrading the Editing Machine

I'm much happier since moving from Macbook to a Gaming Laptop with more drive options and bigger drives that I can upgrade at anytime.

Moto Joshing yes I looked at macs but decided on an Asus gaming laptop. Much higher spec for the money and like you say, a certain level of upgrade abilities. I just don't have the space for a desktop pc, otherwise I would have built one.

I think I need to get some more ram for the PC, I'm only running 8GB. Anything that improves the performance for editing, I might just invest in an ssd as well.

OldManTony video editing is super demanding on your pc, so you definitely need plenty of ram and a good graphics card. If you're running a standard hdd drive, moving to a ssd will be the biggest noticeable upgrade you can do, not just for editing, but for everything. Just make sure you transfer your O/S to it, for lightening performance. If your pc supports pcie nvme drives, that's the route to take, much faster than sata 3.
