I’m doing the 80 gallon and want to mount on taller pads. Wondering if I can put everything done and just drill through the leg to the concrete? Can’t see lifting it over the anchor bolts, it weighs 450 pounds.
@SecondChanceJeeps2 жыл бұрын
I wanted to do that too, but I believe the issue I ran into was that I couldn't run the drill straight down because the tank interfered with it.
@ketotrucker35282 жыл бұрын
@@SecondChanceJeeps I placed mine on Amazon pads and didn’t bolt it down. Feels pretty sturdy. Didn’t try drilling but never thought about the tank being it the way. Can see that as an issue because the tank does indeed go out over them.
@treborterb2 жыл бұрын
@@ketotrucker3528 It seems that ideally, you would mark the holes and then remove the tank and drill the holes so that you could keep a straight vertical alignment...it looks like the bottom of the tank bulges out enough to make the drill a little at an angle...but lifting that heavy tank would be a challenge.

I have the same compressor and after 2-years the pump went bad even thought I changed oil once a year. This is used for a residential application. New pump cost me $700. What a disappointment!

How is the compressor itself holding up? Any issues with the pump?

Holding up great! No issues whatsoever.

Just a couple of recommendations from an old engineer... Pick up some 3" wide x 1/8" thick flat stock from Home Depot and cut 3"x3" plates, center drill each with a hole 1/16" over the anchor bolt diameter, then prime and paint them. Insert the plate on top of your isolation pad, which will displace the point load across the entire surface area of the pad. (You can buy manufactured vibration isolators with plates, but they're more than $45 each) This will eliminate the cupping you see along the edges as you crank down on the nuts. To mount, land the compressor over the bolts then add a flat washer, lock washer, loctite thread locker and finish with the nut. There is no need for a jam nut. You can crank down until the compressor tank is level side to side and font to back. If the motor is more than 1/8" off level front to back, that may cause premature bearing wear and burn out that expensive 5HP motor. Last, check your clearance off the back wall. 12 inches is a good start, but in the future, you may want to upgrade your compressor, so 16" clearance would be better. On my machine, I mounted a transmission oil cooling coil to the flywheel guard and a water separator between the compressor outlet and the tank inlet. It adds about 4" to the depth of my machine, and eliminates 50% or more of the condensation before it enters the tank. There's your next video idea! I enjoy your videos, keep up the good work!

@@SecondChanceJeeps I am trying to hook up a compressor like this at my work's new shop and was looking for videos randomly for some tips. I didn't recognize you at first because you usually have a mask on in all the TikTok videos I see from the show. But as soon as I heard your voice, I was like "I know him!!!" Great video...something I see u need on your unit...pls add a magnetic starter..your pressure switch won't go bad..if yours is a 5hp..or larger..this helps keep everything ..like the pressure switch not burn out or your motor..talk to any electrictoin..a little more cost..to you..but u,ll have a longer lasting unit trouble free..

You can also run into rebar when drilling, trust me, I know.

Just burned up the motor on one of these models (and by burned up the motor was literally on fire during it's first kick on for the day). I've had it for 15 months and barely used it. Went on youtube and the first video was a guy that had the same issue. Tried to leave a respectful bad review on Tractor Supply site and they denied the posting (there goes honesty and censorship). I ran the living crap out of a Porter Cable for 16 years with no problems. I wouldn't suggest this IR to anyone

Does porter cable make ones as powerful as this? I need something like this for sandblasting.

Even though it's bolted to the slab will the tank "flex" or vibrate somehow? Is there a chance it would hit the workbench while operating?
@SecondChanceJeeps4 жыл бұрын
T- Wrecks The anti-vibration pads allow the compressor to move a little, but keep that vibration from being transferred to the surface it’s mounted to. So technically it can move a little, but not enough for it to hit the workbench or wall.
@t-wrecks67394 жыл бұрын
@@SecondChanceJeeps ah, cool. I was actually thinking if it did another one of those anti vibration pads would be a perfect little bumper between the two. Most likely overkill though

Is it absolutely necessary to bolt it down to concrete? Can I test that the compressor works well for me before anchoring it to concrete or is that too risky? thank you!
@SecondChanceJeeps3 жыл бұрын
Necessary? Not sure. I’d imagine it’s recommended though. I did because the compressor seems a little top heavy to me. I would at least tuck it in a corner with some kind of safety chain anchored to each wall to keep it from accidentally tipping if something bumps it. Just my two cents though!

Might need to get me a compressor as well. Looks good.
@Richard-qg7sz4 жыл бұрын
Your anchor bolts are way too tight. They should be just snug enough not to distort the anti-vibration pads. Doing this will greatly reduce vibration and compressor noise while still maintaining the integrity of anchoring the compressor to the floor.
