In Ontario it's 70k for dual mother model Y. It's so dumb ford's government preventing many people buying EV. I would have bought the Model Y standard range of it had 5k incentive

Pretty awesome how they let you go out by yourself and go out for long drives.

I was happy about it too. When I test drive my model 3 it was short and had someone with me.

Acceleration : Apart from the numbers there is a significance in take-up as the type of motors they use. In the SR+ it just uses the efficient reluctance motor and the LR uses an induction motor + reluctance motor. The reluctance motor suffers from torque flutter under torque - so the acceleration on the SR+ is softer, you will find when it is not snowing that the acceleration feels more brutal in the LR as the induction give you full kick immediately - quicker take up. For European (and UK you have to say now :( ) roads I think the Y is too wide - even the model 3 feels a wide car. My daughter complains that my model 3 is a bit firm ride in the back of the car - was the Y softer in the ride ? (I have 19" wheels for the softer ride - but my family both think it is a bit firm). I (and my wife) personally like a car - not SUV style seating position - but that is personal driving. I also think large SUV are a problem with hurting efficiency of cars in general (UN figure on transport emission - uptake of SUV's has reversed the efficiency improvements of ICE engines), and inverse tardis (larger on the outside and smaller on the inside), though I think the Y is an exception as it is not really an SUV. I am sure the US comments will explode at that comment - but numbers never lie. I do miss the hatch-back style though, most cars in Europe are hatch-back, so the 3 is a bit out of place being a saloon/sedan.

Hi, I live in Ottawa too and just got my first Tesla LR M3 2021 on December 26. Loving it so far. I agree that the MY would be a great upgrade for you with a family and hockey gear, but I understand you reasons to wait. By the way, I don't believe the MY qualifies for the $5000 federal rebate, unless something has changed recently. It was only the M3 SR+ that qualified under a tricky exemption. No other Teslas qualified. So that adds another $5000 + tax to your upgrade plans. If you're not in a hurry, I would wait for the new batteries to come out. Cheers, Phil

Congrats on the new Tesla model 3 LR. I would most likely get a LR model 3 before a long range model Y for myself. I just thinks it’s more fun to drive. The plan now is to get my wife a model Y when the time is right. 😀

@@TeslaCanadianDad I understand. I had a really hard time trying to decide between the M3 and the MY. There are definitely pros and cons for each one. In the end I chose the M3 as it will be my car, my wife has her own car, I have been into sports cars all my life, so I preferred the better performance and handling of the M3. I plan to buy the Acceleration Boost for it at some time. The M3P was just too much extra money here in Canada.

Man the performance model must be so much fun.
@PhilT9933 жыл бұрын
@@TeslaCanadianDad Yes indeed! They gave me one for a test drive. The acceleration is wicked!! The performance boost option should get me within 1/2 second of that. Apart from that the body and interior are identical, the 20" wheels look great, but are less comfortable and more prone to damage, the suspension is 1" lower which is not great for our climate, and the brakes are better and look nice, but we don't use the brakes anyway, unless you track the car, where they are not really up to the job. So, tempting, but...

First, I saw your review of the SR+ in winter, and bought an SR+. And now you're suggesting to me, I should trade in?!

Haha you can do what you want lol but I’m keeping my M3 SR+

I’m prefer the Model 3 sport feel over the Model Y off the ground SUV feel. If this showed me anything is that I love my model 3.

We had a overnight test drive with the Y in -16c weather and the suspension was so stiff it was annoying. Pretty much bouncing our heads off the head rest constantly, not that pleasant tbh
@TeslaCanadianDad3 жыл бұрын
When did you do that?

@@TeslaCanadianDad this past Saturday to sunday. Like everything else other than the ride stiffness and also you can’t adjust the head rest (maybe you can but i tried and couldn’t figure it out) its at an uncomfortable height for my head
@TeslaCanadianDad3 жыл бұрын
The head rest doesn’t move. Try tilting the seat instead. I honestly love the 3 adjustments you can do on the seats.
