Upgrading to Gigabit Fibre | County Broadband

Hey Ben, Really useful video, thank you About to move to the middle of nowhere, however County Broadband is the only ISP to cover it at any speed above 6mb/s. (They offer the full 900mb/s) 2 questions if that's OK: 1) How has your experience been with them 3 months later? Have they been a reliable ISP and does your internet still work well? 2) What was the installation process like to your property? I rent and don't want the drive way to be torn up for the cables, not sure what to expect and if they're able to work around that or what additional equipment is needed. Cheers mate :)

Thanks for the feedback! Course. 1) after around 5 weeks I lost my internet and it was down for around 6 weeks so not great!! Now my internet is restored, speeds are reliable and I don’t notice any throttling. 2) Cabling was brought to the house by telephone pole so no need for a trench to be dug. My place is also rented and they were happy for me to have it installed as it likely made the property more desirable so if needed, deffo worth the conversation with your landlord! Of course if you decide not to go with CB, you still have options like a 4G connection (like I did for a long time) or Starlink (now that you can rent the equipment and not have to pay upfront). Before I could get fibre, I did use Starlink and it was great, just a shame it’s not a little more affordable. Let me know if you have any other questions, more than happy to help!

Good to know that people in rural Essex are beginning to get options, interesting to hear about starlink, I don't know anyone in the UK that's used it! I've signed up with CBB for now, but will go with an alternative if they prove to be difficult. To be honest, it's been a really straight forward process do far and someone has already rung me to go through everything so I'm impressed so far, better than my experience with BT

Hi Ben I've just upgraded and waiting on install to CB over my current fttc connection of 60 Mbps we are going for 600. Is it reliable I'm very tempted to keep my copper service as I see a few horror stories. I have unlimited data on my phone but it's slow so not a great backup so not sure what to do. Also they seem to have a fair usage policy my main use will be downloading games regularly because the ps5 space is shite and dont want to be capped for doing it i sort dont see the point of having such high speeds if its limited.
