If u hit the tack strip like your doing your gonna have lumps. Always start from the top downwards. Also make sure the back tack card along the top is cut to an angle so the out back corner dosnt have a lip. You get a better finish and won’t have to panel pin the corner

Helpful video....working on a chair I stripped down and returning it to it's original design. Open sided arm chair, not fully upholstered as it had been twice before. Mid-century chair!

Nice job and good teaching I've learn so much from you already . you see I got a broke leg and I need more income to come in. So I started at a beginner's level and started doing chairs so I think I've mastered slip up chairs and want to move to sofas but I guess I don't know if I'm ready but still going to try a small project before throwing myself out there lol

Looks like the very first time Cindy has ever put metals in furniture. This is how you get a loose back and wrinkles along the strip. You might get away with it on a motion chair with velcro but not on more commonly re-upholstered stationary pieces.

For those interested, the strip goes against the wood prongs out, pull the top corner over the top prong first, then pull the bottom corner of the back tight diagonally, then pop it over the bottom prong. You then have tension all the way down the strip and can put a all your fingers in between the prongs and pop them all in at once. Then you flip it prongs in and pull it over to the edge to hammer it in. That creates a back you can thump like a drum.

The tack strip I bought online required tin snips. I am just about to begin using them!

First of all with any linen fabric you always want to use a padded tac band so you don’t fray or knock a damn hole in the fabric. Secondly, if you lay the tac band on the flat surface with the tacs facing up, and half way on the edge of the wood it works better and quicker. Lastly, when you hit a tac band you don’t “tap” you whack and evenly from the top to the bottom so the tac band lays flat and firm. And one more thing I saw that was incorrect, when you cut the band always cut with the tacs facing down so you don’t have a sharp bur. But A for effort I can tell you’ve never trimmed before ma’am
