"Muscle" died an early death, while the three remaining programs on the WB's original schedule (then airing only on Wednesdays; it would expand to Sundays in the fall of '95)--"The Wayans Bros.," "The Parent 'Hood," and "Unhappily Ever After"--would last five seasons apiece.
@laustcawz20893 жыл бұрын
Yet, imo, "Muscle" was, by far, the best of the bunch & still boasts what I consider THE best TV series finale ever!!!
@andrewbarton25903 жыл бұрын
Muscle starred Shannon Kenny, mainly known to viewers outside the U.S. (mainly Australia, the UK and Europe) for her role as Debbie Halliday in the later years of the Australian soap Sons and Daughters. Later on after Muscle, she was in The Invisible Man with Friends's Vince Ventresca and Paul Ben-Victor (the villain from the JCVD film Maximum Risk) and later provided a voice for the cartoon series Max Steel alongside Christian 'brother of Neve' Campbell.

It's funny how during the 90's and early 2000's, all these production companies thought they needed to come out with their own networks so they could keep the profits to themselves and it didn't work out. Now they all are doing the same thing, thinking they need to come up with their own streaming services so they can keep all the profits to themselves. It'll work out just about as good too!
@pittland444 жыл бұрын
I think that's a definite possibility. What will happen is, just like when they wanted their own networks, they won't have enough content to carry the whole platform.

@@pittland44 And now Netflix is loosing money because these production companies who are making thier own streaming services are making thier content exclusive.

Honestly, just having one dominant streaming service like Netflix doesn't work either. Companies like ViacomCBS (Paramount Global), Disney and Amazon are great investment targets right now.

Voyager was good, but the best Star Trek of the 90's was Deep Space Nine. It was just, for lack of a better term, bigger. Not to say Voyager was bad, but DS9 just went places Star Trek had always been hesitant to go.

My point exactly. If I ended up counting the dozens of short-lived sitcoms that attempted to capitalize and emulate the overnight success of "Friends" during the second half of the nineties and into the early 2000s (prior to 9/11) on my hands and feet, I'd eventually run out of both fingers and toes. Hell, even "Married...With Children" commented on and parodied the "Friends" phenomenon in season ten's "Enemies," which was actually a backdoor pilot for a potential spinoff that thankfully never materialized. Thanks for commenting, @@oldradiosnphonographs.

To be honest Star Trek Voyager was UPN's longest running show. It ran for 7 seasons.
@SchofieldAJ Жыл бұрын
Actually that is a Lie! As UPN's longest Running Show was/is/forever will be WWF/E Smackdown! that started in mid 1998 then is still on the air but now moved over to FOX so WWF Smackdown! is the longest Running show in UPN History!

when UPN and the WB first started I was thinking it was going to be UPN that would win in the end but as we can clearly see when looking back at it it's not surprising why WB kind of won in terms of who had the greatest longest term impact because when I look back at these videos the only thing I remember from upn that you showed here was Voyager but all the shows that were on the WB except muscle I actually remember I wasn't a exactly a big fan of these shows but I do remember them.

My UPN affiliate was KTXH it was still branded as Paramount 20 (which their Sister station WDCA in Washington DC went through the same branding due to being owned by Paramount Stations Group) during the first few months of UPN, KHTV 39 in Houston was independent during the WB’s first 9 months due to the CBS/FOX situation and its then owner Gaylord Broadcasting affiliting KTVT and KSTW (which then owned KSTW in Seattle,KTVT in Dallas and WVTV in Milwaukee) with CBS so houstonians got the wb programming on cable via WGN-TV. WGN Chicago’s WB Affiliate also served as a National WB Affiliate on their superstation feed carried nationally outside Chicago in market for those who don’t have a WB affiliate. It wasn’t until September 20,1995 that Channel 39 became a WB Network that same time Tribune Broadcasting bought KHTV.
