I just recently started lifting again after taking about a 7 year break from the gym. My very first say back I hit bench press and went too fast with too much volume, the next day I woke up and had the worst elbow pain I've ever had in my life. I was freaking out because I had a difficult even putting my airpods in, even scratching my nose quick if it was itching or brushing my teeth. After a few brutal days this finally gave me the relief to where I can do everyday tasks, I'm legitimately feeling emotional right now at the thought of this pain finally going away. Thank you so, so much

This video is two years old, but it still saved my elbow. I'm still relatively new to fitness and although I'm an athlete, I've only recently begun to properly take care of my body because I was dumb and didn't know my limits. This was the first time I've had this kind of elbow pain, and I was anxious and didn't know what to do. Thank you SOO MUCH for this, even if it's old, it's a literal lifesaver!!

Had elbow pain/tricep tendonitis pain for over a year with zero help from rest/ice or using lacrosse balls. If you’ve had the pain for a while and there is no inflammation in your elbow then you need to perform eccentric tricep exercises and do them consistently. That is the only thing that has worked for me to repair the tendon without surgery. I am back to about 90-95% after 2-3 weeks. Look up Steven Low’s manual on overcoming tricep tendonitis
@MoveWellLiveWell6 жыл бұрын
Hello and Thanks for Watching! We are happy to hear you found relief with the technique you used. Yes, if there is no inflammation in your elbow and this has been an issue for a while, the condition moves into what they call tendinopathy/tendinosis and may require different approaches. Thanks again for watching and your comment.😄

Hey, I looked this up and I can’t find anything about when to use the eccentrics. At the start of my workout? At the end? Should I even workout or only do these exercises? What was your approach? Edit: I wanna add that I have a pulling sensation in my dorsal elbows (where the triceps tendon is) and no pain while doing PULLING exercises especially chin ups and bicep stuff

okay so I'm now pretty certain that a ton of people who think they have tennis elbow or lateral epicondilitis, *actually* have triceps tendonitis **update 5/29/2020** my triceps tendinitis was a result of bench-pressing heavy too often, with insufficient recovery. Since quarantine, I've only done bodyweight exercises and with decreased intensity. For me, that was enough for tendinitis to more or less fully heal.

I first watched this video and thought, "man this is so simple it's silly". Well I tried it and it really does work. I used a racquetball on my elbow with the tendinitis and I did indeed have a big knot right where my pain was. Only the racquetball was able to get down deep enough to work it out. This didn't make all my pain go away instantly (I'm on week 5 of rest and now it's almost gone), but following this technique let my elbow begin the healing processes for sure. Now I use this technique for knots and muscle tightness in other areas. Thank you for posting this video!!

Thank you! If you have an affiliate practice in NYC, please mention that in your About section. I've been to 2 PTs so far, one practiced medieval torture on my back with graston "therapy" and the other was just milking insurance and copay visits (stretched sessions and did procedures unnecessarily like assisted stretches where i knew and he knew how much they paid for each procedure and based on that, he would pick the higher reimbursed procedures to do.) I had one PT from 20 years ago as good as you and resolved a long term issue in 6 brutal sessions of real hands on therapy....guess what? He stopped practicing and runs the business with other PTs fresh out of school, and i tried it and complained esp. when they gave me a list of exercises to do without any explanation and never went back. Arrrg....very difficult to find a really good PT, so far lately, it's about a paycheck, not patient results.

Hi, I did a few tricep dumbell workout exercises(3 kg dumbell) for a few weeks, not on a daily basis. I would feel a pain near the back of my elbow for one particular exercise - the bicep curl so I stopped doing that exercise continued with others like overhead extension and layeral raises (20 reps of of sets). I stopped working out and the there was no pain, my arms were normal. 2 months after I stopped these workouts, I suddenly felt a shooting pain on the back of my elbow and along different part of the tricep muscle itself. I have been doing tricep streches and 3 months later, the pain still is as is. Along with a burning sensation and a knot like feeling near the elbow. I occasionally feel a little weakness in y triceps, especially while typing on my computer or holding my phone in front of my eyes. I have not lost any function so far, but the pain/burning is always constant as long as I am awake. I saw a few doctors with MRI scans, but the scans show nothing, no inflammation or other injuries. From the past 2 weeks Im starting to get a needle like pricking needle like pain on the back of the arm attaching the shoulder, and its starting to affect the position i sleep in. I also hear frequent popping sounds from shoulder and elbow. Could this really be a tendon issue -tendinitis/ tendinopathy or a case muscle fatigue or something else. Please help since I have not been getting much help from doctors and its really starting to affect my daily chores

Hello Doc, thanks for this video. It started off as a stiffness in the elbow, when I did lunges holding weights in my hand post my heavy floor press session and stupid me, did some 90 reps of tricep extensions using very low weight of 2.5 kgs. I immediately stopped any kind of pressing work. Stuck to RDL's and other leg work. Grip was not an issue but I would feel this burn in the tricep area, more than the elbow pain/stiffness. When it did not heal, i went to a physio who told i was loading my elbows when I did any kind of rowing or lat work and hence got "tennis elbow" and that i have internal rotated shoulders, more prominent on the right side, which i knew and was already working on some rotator cuff exercises last year and was getting better, after which I stopped those. She did some dry needling sessions for the scap, supraspinatus, subscapularis, forearm muscle, and added the rotator cuff muscle exercises as my rehab, none for the elbow. By this time, the elbow started acting up (for which she said it will settle down after getting worse).. it seemed to but tricep burn and elbow pain happened again after those rotator cuff rehab everyday. Now, my guess after your post is tricep tendonitis and not even tennis elbow. What is going wrong? Please advise next steps. No proper diagnosis happening and am pulling my hair. Would you recommend trying this out with a tennis ball? I don't have a lacrosse ball. How many seconds of rolling at each position do you advise? Thanks
@MoveWellLiveWell5 жыл бұрын
Hello and Thanks for Watching!😄Sorry to hear about your condition. Without an exam, it is difficult to diagnose your problem. Based on what you’ve described, you may have what is described in the video. I recommend a time frame of 3-5 minutes to start as tolerated. If you can tolerate 3-5 minutes, slowly increase the time another minute. The idea is to find those tight, sensitive, and restricted areas. As you perform this therapy over those areas, the sensitivity and pain will decrease. As the the pain and sensitivity decreases, move onto another area. You may use various techniques as noted in the video such as longitudinal stripping with the foam roller or pinpoint ischemic compression with the lacrosse ball. Substituting other objects such as a tennis ball is also effective. I just find that the lacrosse ball is more durable and less likely to slide around. A proper diagnosis from a well qualified health care provider is recommended as a proper diagnosis is the first step to proper treatment. Thanks again for watching and your inquiry. Keep us posted on your progress.

The bottom like 25 lbs dumbbells. And then i felt pain in the lower portiom of my triceps near the elbow. Its worse when i do like skull crushers over heas tricep extensions. And also shoulder dumbbell press like wtf i havnt even felt pain when i was lifting heavy ass weights before

Same here... I just started lifting again after getting a bench and dumbells. Did tricep overhead (or behind head) with a dumbell. Felt good last night... this morning its tight and my elbow/forearm part (the outer part near my below) is swollen and warm with inflammation. Freaking hurts too!
@pseitrends14354 жыл бұрын
@@paulbonaventura4969 probably becaude you stopped lifting for a while. I already remove over head extension workout And focus more on close grip bench for triceps and tricep push downs. Im trying to save my elbows for a heavy bench press

@@pseitrends1435 yea I am definitly out of shape , I didn't think i went too heavy or crazy. Day 2... still sore (good sore) but I did the ball rolling on my triceps and it almost immediately reduced the tension at the elbow and swelling. I was very surprised.

Same here lmao. Gym just opened up after 7-9 months without weight training and I went way too heavy and hard on skull crushers and did them wrong but stretching all the way to floor and extending past my chest almost to my stomach area. Horrible pain, I might give this a shot

That hurts…😬 Is the lacrosse ball method supposed to feel that horrible? I have spasms and a strong radiating pain from the upper back to the tricep and forearm. My neck is rather stiff too. I would go to the doctor or a massage therapist but it’s late at night. I do have a heating pad and will try that but I will appreciate some more suggestions to help me get some sleep…. TIA.

Depends on how long the muscles have been tight and inflamed. Yes it can hurt. You control the pressure and increase as tolerated. Consistency is key. Thanks for watching.

I haven't lifted since getting this, I initially thought Tennis Elbow, but Squat University shows a stretch that helps diagnose the problem. Yeah it's Triceps/Elbow Tendon issue. 6 weeks no training now, it's annoying 😒. Wondering if I should just grab some BPC 157 to help accelerate healing at this point (on top of rehab work ofc). The cause was heavy (35kg/77lb for 3 reps) Dumbell Incline Bench. Managed all 3 on my left side, but failed the third on my (ironically stronger normally) right side. Left the training a few days to recover, but went shopping and came back with it. Oh boy that's when the pain kicked in, I could barely lift the child safety gates open. Agony, and it still flares up 6 weeks later. I'm still strong enough to do stuff, it's just painful af. Really need to sort this out now lol, some elbow sleeves too for support during rehab and ongoing to try and avoid it happening again.

Awesome video, thank you, would you recommend doing the lacrosse ball exercise even with kind of big discimfort in the tricep when doing practically anything? *not talking about working out, cant do any tricep related exercises*, or would you recommend me trying to reduce any movement in the arm for i dont know, two weeks?

@@roysantiago8961 i still cant workout, the tricep still fucked up, i would recommend you visiting a doctor, i visited him too late so on the scan they couldnt see anything, because it might have already healed badly and they could not see that, im starting rehabilitation in three weeks, i dont see how it can help but im full of hope it will

@@michal8625 sorry to hear that. I literally just seen my dr yest to go over my mri. My tricep tendon looks stringy to him but is definitely still attached. We’re waiting on the reports for a second opinion. He recommended eccentric therapy but just pushing onto the wall with a curled arm hurts. I’m still working as I have to pay the bills just worried working and attempting therapy might be too much and cause a break. He doesn’t think so but it’s super tender. Is yours tender to the touch of the tip of the elbow?
@michal86254 жыл бұрын
@@roysantiago8961 kind of, i would say mine hurts not really at the tip of the elbow, or when i make it tired with few movements i feel it there, but its more like a dull annoying pain that starts at the elbow and continues like 5 centimeters up towards the triceps, but it later also resonates the pain in most of my tricep (if i did not answer your question properly try to formulate it again, im not a native speaker so i might have answered it incomprehensively)

@@michal8625 thanks for responses I definitely am following along . I seem to have the most pain in the evening after work. After taking my anti inflammatory and some sleep it gets a little more tolerable to get through the work day again. Have you tried taking collagen or any supplements that you feel have helped?

So whenever I do tricep workouts like tricep extensions( which is the worst) bench press or push ups my under elbow at the tricep, not the for-arm, has a bad stabbing pain, especially when I flex my arm, and is limiting my workouts. Is this tendonitis? I'm sceptical because I'm 14 and I don't think tendonitis is normal in teenagers.
