Thank you for not generalizing the dialects of Lower Assam and giving proper info and differentiating Kamrupiya and Goalpariya dialects as separate dialects. Often people from Upper Assam consider Kamrupiya as the dialect of Lower Assam because of so many popular videos on dialect comparison over social media, which, in fact, doesn't convey the true linguistic scenario of Lower Assam. People of Undivided Goalpara district (present districts of Goalpara, Bongaigaon, Dhubri, some parts of Kokrajhar & Chirang) speak Goalpariya/Rajbongshi/Deshi (Eastern or Western sub-dialects) which is very much different from the Kamrupiya dialect.

The language chauvinists of Assam always try to reject and insult the lower assam dialects as if it should not even exist. Do they even realise that most of the ancient authors from Assam like Bhattadeva used to write in Kamrupi dialect. Just because the Christian missionaries established the printing press in Sivasagar instead of Nalbari or Barpeta, the upper Assam dialect got the written and standard status. There was not anything special about it. Don't try to sabotage the history and diversity of Assam by being puritan activists. Even when a non Assamese tries to speak Assamese with one's native accent why y'll people get triggered?! Can't you just appreciate that at least one is trying to speak a language which is not his/her mother tongue. How many of them can speak fluent Hindi or English? If people from North India starts making fun of their Hindi accent how would they feel then!

I speak the Western Goalparia dialect, which is very much similar to the North Bengali/Rangpuria/ Rajbongshi/Deshi dialects but mainland Assam considers it as Bengali, calls us Bengali, which makes us very sad being an Assamese in Assam.
