Dang I miss dear camp with the guys. What a fun time that was. Now everyone has their own things going on, some have passed on. Bummer, and I’m only 63.

It's been mild, the bears haven't gone to sleep yet. Good hunting my friend. I'll be watching for your videos.

I miss deer camp with my white stepdad and his dad i enjoyed that growing up every season we was out at deer camp but as i got older and they passed it has become a thing of my past. Going into adulthood i left to my reservation we don't hunt like majority of US citizens nor does state have authority over us i now hunt traditional ways of my culture and people with long bows and recurve bows the thing i remember most back then was at camp was the cooking grandpa did just had the best food wed go to are stands or pick a spot and wait sometimes minutes sometimes hours sometimes few days back and forth to camp to spots had great memories but when i left that and returned i got deep in my culture and peoples ways we run deer down by the miles and with no modern equipment other than maybe a bow string and the fact that a recurve last longer than a long bow but id rather hunt under the sun moon and stars i know im lucky but 48000 acres with no hunters basically all to me is better to hunt the way i do now we can hunt for meat to eat and survive on in mountains valleys and old growth forest we don't do plots or feeders or tree stands but i really do miss deer camps the way my white fathers showed me growing up great good memories sport hunting was fun wile it lasted for me but ima stay back in time in cultural hunting

I bet you got your eyes set on that nice little six point you caught in your camera. Good luck on your deer hunt.

Only problem is the tag I have left after shooting that 6 with the crossbow is one that requires 4 on one side. So I can't legally shoot that buck! That's ok though, I'd be happy to see someone else at the camp get it too. You gonna be deer hunting at your place in the UP this fall?
@safarijoesadventures11 күн бұрын
@ Not this year. The cabins not quite done enough on the interior to heat it. But I am looking at some milk here in Northern Colorado. Hopefully I can get one.

I should be up north but have family . They will let me go Monday. Good luck all.

Enjoying all of your shows and videos, great job.....We are in Skandia don't know if your close by? The Leek find was cool, Question that Power Pac what kind of duration does it have?
@KnettersPracticalOutdoors11 күн бұрын
Papke...........the fishing guide right? Yes, we are in the central UP also. As far as the power pack, that model shown is an R2500. It gives us about 2 days of use at the camp during the fall. Which means the lights come on at 6 pm, TV coming on at 6 pm and maybe even a DVD player. And using these things until about 11 or 12 midnight. I'll be doing a more in depth video on it soon.

Where did you get those hot dogs or what brand are they? Those things are huge.
@KnettersPracticalOutdoors11 күн бұрын
Klements jumbo hotdogs. Made in Wisconsin. We have them in several stores in the UP.

First time I’ve heard of leeks, what do u use them in?
@KnettersPracticalOutdoors11 күн бұрын
They are like an onion/garlic combo. So anything that you would use those for will work with leeks. Some people call them ramps.
@larryhudlemeyer261712 күн бұрын
Oh yeah....forgot to mention that I'd also be carrying a sidearm and extra ammo for it on a chest rig. We got bears that are still awake, big kitties (Mountain Lions), coyotes, and might even be a wolf or two hanging around. It's just not a good idea to be un-heeled after you start field dressing an animal. A rifle against a tree is just that against the tree and out of reach if a problem arises. With all this in mind, I tell you, them cookies and hot chocolate are sounding better and better all the time! Have a safe hunt and a great time at camp!
@KnettersPracticalOutdoors11 күн бұрын
I'm with you on the hot chocolate part. Stay safe out there!

That buck @ 8:35 is the kind that will screw you with your four point tag. That looks like an 8 pointer all day long when you look quick in failing light.
@KnettersPracticalOutdoors12 күн бұрын
Yes, I kept expecting to see one more point on one side. I've used my 3 points on one side tag already, so you are right, I can't shoot that buck. Which for me, that would be an awesome buck to harvest. I will have to pay attention. Thanks for watching.
