Rafting the Upper Salt River for 6 days in Arizona. Filmed from my 13ft NRS Outlaw. 2700CFS was a super fun level with nice big holes and waves. We didn't flip any rafts but 3 out of the 8 people on the trip took swims.

Man...killer video, great music, awesome lines, stellar oar shipping, amazing weather and perfect flows! I'm super jacked, my brother pulled a permit for this year's March 24th launch, though we are limited to only 4 days, I can't wait. Would love to hear where you camped along your journey on the Salt?

I have heard that Quartzite Falls used to be a lot tougher and then someone dynamited it some years ago to mellow it out. Is that correct or am I confusing it with a rapid on a different river?

You are correct! It used to be a nasty class V+ until a river guide dynamited it to make is “safer”.

@lerpone Yeah, since my previous post, I read all about it. It happened in late 1993 but was not discovered until early 1994. Apparently, there were 8 total people involved but two "ringleaders". The 6 minor actors plea bargained their way out of any jail time by agreeing to testify against the ringleaders. One of the ringleaders served a little over a year in jail/prison and paid a substantial fine, but the other one managed to escape to Australia while out on bail by using a phony passport. He was eventually caught in Australia and extradited to the US and ended up serving about 3 years in prison and paying a very large fine, much larger than the other main actor. I am sure a lot of river runners and commercial raft guides quietly thanked these guys, though, as apparently Quartzite was a very dangerous rapid prior to the alteration and also very difficult and time-consuming to line or portage, especially for rafters on multi-day trips with lots of gear.
