Im a Full time Driver for UPS. When your DIAD does the three beeps for when you arrive at your stop, make it a force of habit to immediately turn on your flashers and tap your horn. I am kinda surprised that you're still on the DIAD 5 but also for stops that only have one or two small packages, try to scan them as you're walking up to the door or delivery point, you'll be surprised how much time you'll save. And always walk behind the package car if you have to cross the road

No do not pull in the mirror.....would u rather ur mirror keeps folding in on u when u drive over 30 mph.....my life or the life of a civilian is more important than 20 dollar dam mirror
@Brucewayneeee
@Brucewayneeee 19 күн бұрын
I never pull in the mirror because it is out of your motion, also because if a oncoming vehicle comes by and side swipes you, your hand is GONE. Also I go down backwards because it’s easy on my knees, I look at my passenger side mirror before exiting too, you’re doing great! Just my personal preference

I’m a new ups driver and honestly you doing great my supervisor had taught me just throw your packages to front and scan your way to the door if it’s multiple packages throw them all to the cab do your 3 point contact and scan before you pick up saves you time I guess just passing over some knowledge that I was taught

@ggjohn303

1. Sort while you look 2. Once your car is empty enough, sort every package so that you know that each one is either on its correct place on the shelf or it’s on the floor. If you then can’t find on the shelf or floor, you know that it’s not there and you can stop looking because it’s not there.

I have a question. I worked as a seasonal driver helper last year and this year and I was thinking about wanting to be a package driver. This year my driver was teaching where to find the packages with the sequence numbers how do I get better with being faster in finding them without taking too much time?
@workoutss9988
@workoutss9988 Жыл бұрын
My best advice is to stop thinking “being faster”, because you will make more mistakes, possibly get into an accident and even more injure yourself, especially if you’re trying to scratch…
@gregr8945

Go through the whole truck as soon as you have space to do so touching every box to put all the packages in sequential order. Takes 15-20 minutes but will make the rest of your day smooth.

Hi Elexus! I got a job as a PVD, Starting soon! Will this lead to a full time job? Or will I be gone by 1/1/23. I’m hoping to get a full time job on the package cars! What do you think? How long have you been with UPS? Your doing a great job!
@elexustilmon
@elexustilmon Жыл бұрын
I am going to say it is very difficult to get hired from a seasonal position because once January hits volume drops. It would be difficult to get hired from a PVD position even if they do need to hire permanent drivers, they would likely hire seasonal drivers who drove the package car first. The best thing you can do is make it known that you are looking for a driving position with them and work hard.

I used to work as an Amazon delivery driver and breaks of any types were none existing. I know what it'll be like to be out there delivering but I was wondering on how strict UPS is about taking breaks. My managers used to get mad for taking a lunch break or bathroom break and insisted I kept moving no matter if it meant sacrificing my breaks. Is UPS less strict about taking breaks and will I be able to peacefully eat my lunch and not feel rushed?

We are union which in the contract it states that we get one hour unpaid lunch and 2 10 minute paid breaks. No matter if they try to rush you are guaranteed those breaks and you make it known to them that. Personally, I have never had issues with my supervisor or manager about breaks but each center (warehouse) is different.
