UPS to Inverter Conversion FAIL Follow-up part 1
In a previous video series I showed how to modify an APC Back UPS into an inverter. This is a followup video to that series where I make repairs to the original project and attempt to upgrade it yet again.
You may notice from my voice that I was tired when I filmed most of this. Starting projects late in the day is often a bad idea for me even when I think "This will be quick."
As you will see it wasn't quick.

i like all of your videos and i must say you really know how these UPS, especially how APC UPS work. the area where i live, sometimes people use these APC UPS as inverter for their solar system, the main and complicated problem people here face is that sometimes the FETs of the APC UPS burn out, i just wanted if you could make a video about how to repair an APC UPS whose FETs are burnt. Actually when the FETs get burned, then changing the FETs doesn't solve the problem, you have to change some of the controlling components too. now i dont know exactly which controlling components need to be changed. i know only you who has so much knowledge of APC UPS, so i would really appreciate if you could make a video about repairing APC UPS.

Awesome videos. I just took a malfunctioning USB and tried to convert it into a light duty inverter, however it doesn't put out any ac voltage. Since it quit working at the office and was thus replaced, I was hoping it was a bad battery and that I could convert it to an inverter, unfortunately the battery works fine, thus there is a problem elsewhere. In stripping the 'spare' parts out of it, I discovered that there was only one wire connected to the 10a external circuit breaker. Ideas?

I have an old Compaq UPS T1500h (230vAC), which I'm having an issue with, when running it as an inverter. I have removed the batteries and connected it to my big 24 volt battery bank, but the odd thing is that it turns off after a few minutes, when the load is below 200 watts. Running beyond about 200 watts, lets say 450 watts, the UPS will run until the batteries are exhausted. Do you know how to change the settings for this unit, to make sure that it also runs on lighter loads ?

That seems odd. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with Compaq UPSs.

If my understanding of basic electrical theory serves me properly, I believe a circuit breaker is not a uni-terminal device. :) Yes, something seems fishy!
