The guys who were asking questions weren’t very good. They are questioning the government using words “don’t you think PM is wrong” “isn’t it immaturish”. The civil servants in the panel will NEVER use such adjectives for a sitting PM.

When asked "why IAS when you already are an engineer, teacher, doctor, MBA etc etc", optimal answer is : "even as a child and teenager, i have always been attracted to the power, status and respect that an IAS officer gets. (This is a good time to speak about any serving or former IAA officers in your family etc if there are any). Now, as an adult, i realise that the status and power is not my prime concern but that serving in the civil services gives one an opportunity to truly serve people. A chance to make a difference and to be counted". (if one already is govt service of some sort, this is the point where you can maybe point out deficiencies as experienced or observed in your line of work and how you would do things differently). The interview board are not looking for bhola bhala people who only want to join IAS for "selfless service". They look for candidates who are clear and honest with why they want to join. My opinion anyway.
