Right, ever since touchless menus, many use their phone to access the menu. I'm not in favor of banning phone and tablets, but I would like it if there was a gentle reminder to silence any electronic items and refrain from phone calls, speakerphone, facetime while dining.

As long as they use headphones I am fine with people using their phones at dinner. Kids being entertained quietly is good for everyone. We don't use phones much at dinner except to check the evening activities on the ship. FYI Since it is currently 3 degrees in the Akron/ Cleveland Ohio area right now I would not be happy to be getting messages/ photos from friends in the Caribbean right now. LOL

I do NOT have a PHONE but my wife does and she uses it for the menu and for the fun time. I am old fashioned and just use the paper menu and fun times!

The menu is on the app. That is Carnival tacitly supporting the use of phones in the dining room. Strange, I hardly notice what people at the other tables are doing.

I do not agree with banning phones but I totally agree with headphones. We were on Carnival Jubilee in December and a child was using a tablet with the music playing at dinner EVERY night. It was very annoying and the parents should have been told to silence tablet or use headphones.

My husband and I always have our phones out during dinner. As you stated, Derek, we view the menu and we also sometimes play our games while waiting for our food.

I always use my cellphone & scan the QR code to get a complete meal menu. Like you I also check on what activities are available later in the evening and tomorrow. I have no issues with young children using their phones or tablets while they wait for their meals.

My big complaint with phones is they don’t give menus. You have to scan a bar code every ship I’ve been on since COVID. We even complained because you shouldn’t have to bring your phone to eat. Now it’s phones to do everything. We’re on vacation. I did cruises to disconnect from electronics.

Shouldn’t be banned but headphones should be required if watching something or using FaceTime. Last cruise I had to listen to someone’s conversation for the entire dinner. I personally don’t want to hear it. Get off my lawn. 😂

Call it "fine dining" or just good manners. I sat next to an obnoxious woman in a dr's waiting room who called ( I believe )everyone she knew!! I like Carnival but I think you'll find cruisers on "other" cruise lines have better manners. I use my phone very little on a cruise. "A fool and his money are soon parted"

So yes, it is dumb to think that they would ban phones, period. But on the other hand, say it is elegant night. No, I don't want to be all dressed up sitting at my table. Listening to someone at another table watch cartoons elegant night should be for the adults. I think that's just my opinion. But any other time at just a regular restaurant that happens all the time with kids on phones or tablets? And I think that's perfectly fine, it's just on an elegant night. That's not something that I would want so Take that as you will LOL.

People can use their phones/tablets as it doesn't bother me. Although they need headphones or not use volume,as that IS annoying. I don't want to hear your conversation. I feel the same way about walkie talkies (if you can even get them to work), dont be yelling into it around me. Its obnoxious. People don't understand that is annoying.
