This is a very insightful discussion. The Hindus should stop having faith in the judicial system.

Phenomenal discussion. I don’t think anyone has had these discussions publicly before. Fascinating to see a frank discussion of Hindu law which is almost never talked about seriously

Fantastic discussion. For those who are interested, Dr SN Balagangadhara’s classic collection of essays Cultures Differ Differently complements this conversation beautifully. Especially chapter 4, Law, religion, and culture and chapter 5, Seven problems with translation. Keep it up Upword.

Amazing conversation please come up with more on @Brhat and her contribution being a part of it, I think there`s some incredible work going there and what are challenges around bringing up indigenous educational institutions, what about financial stability and incentives for students. Next I wish to hear about the laws in agricultural sector, it`s contribution to GDP, like you said about ecology, agrarian cultures their survival, like Ambalavasis of Kerala and much more. Thank You for this, please take the above points in consideration and come up with more conversations with her, loved it.

Respected British anthropology professor, Dr. Edward Dutton, has demonstrated that “LEFTISM” is due to genetic mutations caused by poor breeding strategies. 🤡 To put it simply, in recent decades, those persons who exhibit leftist traits such as egalitarianism, feminism, gynocentrism, socialism, multiculturalism, transvestism, homosexuality, perverse morality, and laziness, have been reproducing at rates far exceeding the previous norm, leading to an explosion of insane, narcissistic SOCIOPATHS in (mostly) Western societies.

Sai Priya you are totally wrong on saying that Naama siddhanta is departure/deviation from Vedic tradition.. Puranas again and again explain about the greatness of Bhagavan namam and also how namam will render the highest goal of life i.e Moksham. In Srimad Bhagavatam, Vishnu puranam, Padma puranam etc the Rushis headed by Saunaka asks Suta Mahrashi "Is there one thing which will render the same benefit as performing all the Vedic rituals"? To which, Suta Maharshi answers that Naama Japam (Chanting the Naama of Bhagavan) will give the same result. Also, Srimad Bhagavatam explains the anecdote of Ajamila, which depicts the greateness of Bhagavan naamam. Also, Naama japam is not a new way that was invented because of lack of patronage. What rituals did Bhakta Prahlad perform ? He simply chanted the Bagavan namam. Prahlad was from Satya yuga. What Vedic ritual did Gajendra perform ?

@SaiPriyaChodavarapu thanks for reverting to this very important point raised by @rmkr11. Although I partially agree with your elaboration on the point you made in the video, since you accept that Nama Siddhanta has it's roots in Vedas, I disagree when you say it to be an offshoot or a rebellion. I urge people to stop reciting the Western narrative on Bhakti Sampradaya and start spreading the truth that Bhakti was always a part of the Vedic norm and culture and we find ample evidence in Ekayana Sampradaya mentioned in Vedas along with Vaikhanas muni's name, one of the propagators and writers of one of the many Pancharatra Shastra, part of Agama Shastra of Vedic time.

Great discussion, one suggestion can you guys also bring some expert who i learned in Japanese history, is feel a lot of what you guys debate has parallels with discussions that went during meji restoration, traditional forces vs industrial forces but Japanese presepective are great and usually accomadative of dharmic principles

Notification system doesn't really work. It is one of those features that google least bothered about since it doesn't much benefit them so they couldn't care less perfecting it. I almost always search for videos/podcasts from channels I have subscribed to. One extra step, but I think it is something we could all live with.🌹

She is absolutely right. Islamic invasions were all physical and violent in nature, and Hindu society reacted to their presence by receding into a coccoon. Turkic invaders didn't have any intellectual capital to replace Hindu intellectual capital. On the other hand British people specifically targeted Indic systems and ideas in order to mutiliate, distort and misrepresent them, so that they could be aligned with Rome instead. That is why you see unnecessary Latin phrases in Indian judiciary today.

Britishers were clever and while codifying hindu laws they only codified things which benefited them in governing the Indian society. It was not like that they were really interested in codifying Hindu laws but it was in reaction to 1857 revolt. They were shaken by the revolt and they wanted to understand the dynamics of Hindu society in order to better control it. Prior to revolt they never cared to consult Indian scholars and upper caste Kshatriyas but after the revolt they understood that they can't control this land without understanding the society and how it works.

I don’t believe that there was a bhakti revolution. Bhakti had always been integral to Vedic religion. Ritual prescription was different for different sections. It wasn’t due to cutting off of someone from a ritual prescription that bhakti evolved as a subaltern / alternative strategy. Many bhakti saints were from sections that had ritual prescriptions at their core.

In Hindu Dharma, throughout its Itihasa, a female was never sacrificed, be it an animal or a human. Therefore, even in the earliest of Pashubalis, it was always the male who was sacrificed, not the female. In other words, Oxen and Bulls have been sacrificed in the past and can still be sacrificed, but the Cow, more specifically the female Cow, cannot be sacrificed.

I am less than impressed by the generalusations Saiprya makes in her comparison of Hindu "law" and law as developed by the West. She posits that community relations is law because almost all things is consumed in dharma. The all consuming dharma means that law as a system is always subsumed in socialogy as in the Manusmriti. The Arthashastra likewise repeats the process as also the Karma Shutra. This has meant that Hindu law did not develop beyond traditional law. Hindu law cannot bear comparison with the system of Roman law or the common law. Hindu law has been left to be fossilised.
