Yeah it's not the best way to land super high-paying clients. But it's a solid way to get started and even supplement typical outreach.

hey brandon, loved the vid. just had a question in terms of my proposal as a fresh copywriter on my way to my first client. The proposal you have clearly shows the versatility and experience you have but, what about a lad like myself. ive done quite a lot of practice and have even published a few of the practice pieces as portfolios on upwork. so the main question is; what should a newbie's upwork proposal look like?

Before doing Upwork, you should go get a few cheap/free clients outside Upwork to gain some experience and get real samples/results for clients. Fastest way is to outreach to friends/family/coworkers for free/cheap. Then get those few case studies as proof for upwork pitches. Otherwise, you can create some made up samples and throw them in a Google Doc. You could even make a sample on the spot for each person you apply for (time-consuming, but more effective than generic pitch).

@@storeycopy oh yeah i have a ton of samples already on my profile and i practice everyday so more wont be an issue. I'm from Pakistan and unfortunately the people i know here are in the constant rat race that is 9-6. i just need to know what to send as a proposal when I'm on Upwork paying to play. cheers!

@@ubi2jz763 Yeah the best possible thing you could send (when you're new and don't have much proof) is a personalized sample and audit made specifically for that company.
