5:19 - the left is a modernised montgomery-kone and actually goes down to the t&t below back in the 90s it served all 3 floors of zellers, the one on the right is a modernised and poorily installed Schindler hydraulic that rattles up the shaft installed in the mid 90s used to be a wall separating the 2 lifts. Would love to see where the left lift exits as it is impossible to find at the t&t below today unless they did something to shorten the shaft

Even more of a trip to see a modern style Target get abandoned. I looked up the Metrotown mall in Canada and apparently it's thriving. Why exactly did this Target close?

Let's go back to 2011 where Zellers was still around. Zellers was a discounted department store owned by the Hudson's Bay Company. Target approached to the Hudson's Bay Company where they agree that Target will buy many existing Zellers stores (not all of them) across Canada. Many Canadians were excited about Target coming to Canada since it is an American company. Two years later, Target began opening stores starting in the province of Ontario, where they eventually expanded across the country. The sales were pretty high for some months, but sales begin to plummet months later. When I first walked into a Canadian Target, most of the items they had were limited, and they had a lot of struggle when it came to restocking. Some shelves were empty, which disappointed many consumers. Even worse, the merchandise that people saw can be found at competing stores like Walmart, Loblaws, etc. One costly mistake for Target is that they open stores when it was not fully stocked, but they wanted to hurry and open the stores. The prices we saw at Target in Canada were pretty high, and that most shoppers turned away and went to other companies instead. The selections that Target offered were not attracting compared to an American Target store. As we get closer to 2015, Target has reported that they have lost over 4 billion dollars. Since Target kept opening stores, most of the money loss was due to leasing. Unable to pay, Target Canada has declared bankruptcy. Liquidations began and all Target stores in Canada were closed. Some locations are still abandoned as of today, while some were taken over by other retail companies.

I've never seen a 2 story Target Store....since the electricity is still on they were still working on the 2nd floor its not abandoned. The main floor is absolutely clean that is rare plus they took out the sinks, toilets and mirrors.

This was the huge Target store in south Burnaby Vancouver BC. I lived in Burnaby 2010 to 2014. That was the old Zellers building before the buy out. I remember the last week that building was open before they shut the doors. It was like everything was 90% off. Almost everything went.

I'd imagine what it would be or feel like having to return there, only to find out that the entire building is completely empty and fully clean (including the ceiling). And you'd also see that all the lights from above are still working without any damage made to them. Imagine how shockingly horrifying that would be if you were to return and end up seeing that type of experience

Dude its Target in Canada they closed here tho :( I rode the elevators a few years back when the store was still open they were hydro but the motor was god damn amazing I hope if they turn the store into something else those elevators will still be there xD.
