Moving the recruitment center closer to the poor people isn't going to want to make them join if they didn't already want to. Also when the Army and Navy are offering bonuses to new recruits while the marines only offers some spiffy looking dress blues and the "privilege" of calling yourself a marine as their bonus, it doesn't exactly have people jumping at the offer.

@@pnutbutta1234567No doy, you know they aren't targeting those demographics and even Jay acknowledges that. They're going for black and brown folks and targeting them with the old "get out of the hood with US". They're not going for the white kids enrolled in private and college prep schools in urban cities. I laugh at this because gentrification has already pushed that demographic into the suburbs in both Orlando and Austin.

The Corps is moving a higher population of recruiters to higher population centers, hence, moving Recruiting Station (RS) HQs. This is a headquarters staffed by a Major as a CO. When an RS HQ is moved, you still have smaller offices, called Recruiting Sub Stations (RSS) and Permanent Contact Stations (PCS) manning every zip code. This happened with Cincinnati, OH decades ago. The Cincinnati HQ was closed. Cincinnati was then manned by an RSS with a senior SNCO in charge. Cincinnati also had 2 PCS, each with 1 to 3 recruiters in them. This is as much as a net zero staffing move of your HQs as it is adding more recruiters to urban populations and less recruiters to rural areas. This process is simply referred to as 'Structure". This takes place from Marine Corps Recruiting Command (MCRC) down to the RS level annually.

I grew up about 90miles from Orlando and live about 80 miles from Austin🤣. Put recruiting stands in the courthouses instead lol. Edit/added. Many in this generation do not want to be used as a “political pawn” for politicians or the like. True or not, social media doesn’t help with so many bashing the military as a whole ranging from vets to anti military channels.

@MikeFL2TX
@MikeFL2TX 9 күн бұрын
@@pnutbutta1234567 that is very correct. The military as a whole is restrategizing their efforts to gain new recruits to fill its new entry quotas (along with retention). There are other issues the recruiters are facing like wokeness and low pay. Reading articles in Army Times, Marine Times, Navy Times and the rest, this is an issue. Along with comments on online news and KZbin comment sections. Google Marine recruited near Austin and you will see there are already two locations and an officer selection office, and the same thing in Orlando. The problem right now is the not enough want to join the military as a whole and why? Like mentioned above. Retention is another case in itself, but relates to the lack of new recruits. Social media has a big grip on society as a whole. Even the pro military channels, that show basic/boot camp is full of people hating. Bottom line is there is not enough wanting to join for God, Honor and Country. Not enough wanting to join for any of the advertised benefits. Again, if this is not the reason more are not wanting to join, then what is the reasons for the huge enlistment bonuses, allowing retiree’s to come back in, restructuring recruiting offices. If people in these areas want out, they would seek them out. Even if the individual can’t drive, a recruiter will go to them.

Ive talked to some recruiters tho. Getting kids to join from the boonies the ghettos etc is tough. Lots of them are fast and strong but usually have a hard time with the ASVAB. Add in the new Genesis system that checks 7 years of medical data and you're fucked with recruitment.

As a member of the urban poor, I welcome this realignment. When I was a little boy, I saw a commercial for the marines and it made me want to become one. But 9/11 conspiracy theories and the subsequent mixed messages from the liberal news media kind of destroyed that dream. There were no actual marines in my community that I could talk to and get the other side of the story. If more marine recruiters are actually in the community and serving the young men of that community, more will be inspired to join and have the information they need at hand.

Eh, I'm not sure. Urban areas are already over-represented in the military so if people from these areas wanted to join, they would've joined anyway because they're already motivated to go...for whatever reasons. With recruiting shortages, it's really rural white boys that they're missing which used to never be a problem. And honestly, I don't blame them with the culture war attacking them nowadays. If another 9/11 happened and a bunch of New Yorkers got wiped out, would any of them care? It shouldn't be that way but that's just the reality. Purge the woke from society and start making Rambo, Die Hard, and Top Gun type movies upfront and center like it used to be back in the 80s when 2 million people signed up no problem.....and I think you'll see cowboy types join.

This is a irresponsible and uninformed video. Cleveland (where they are closing a recruitment center) is far more diverse than either Austin or Orlando, and it has a lot more poverty. Cleveland has a poverty rate of 31%, compared to 12% for Austin and 15% in Orlando. As for demographics, Cleveland is a majority minority city with only 35% white population. Whereas, Austin is majority white (66%), and Orlando is 48% white. As for Des Moines it has a poverty rate similar to Austin and Orlando, but yes it is less diverse than the other places. However, Austin's economy is one of the most thriving in the nation and performing better than Des Moines.
