Thank you Holly. This makes me more confident that my container garden will do okay at the patio. I have partial sun, but spring gives me a few hours of sun. Inspiring

Hi Holly. I love your garden! I’m also in the Perth area. I only have a small patch which is getting flowery too, the celery and coriander. I have heaps of tomatoes ripe and ripening which I’m excited about. I was curious what over wintering means? I’m no gardener, I just pop things in and hope for the best haha. Shannon.
@SustainableHolly3 жыл бұрын
Hi Shannon, thank you for watching 🙂 It is when you cut back your plant at the end of the season and keep it somewhere warm so that it can go a little dormant and survive the winter. I do it with my Chilli plants too. Otherwise they tend to just die when winter hits and you have to replant new ones each year. That’s the best way to go! Learn from experience and keep tweaking!

Awesome. Thanks for the info. I actually got my celery at spudshed and planted the base which took off like crazy. But I’m happy for it to seed now and collect those for future planting. Hopefully they don’t go all over the yard (partner wouldn’t appreciate it 😄). Keep up the wonderful videos. It’s nice to be able to watch a local!

Haha yes get in quick because they are very generous with their seeds 😂😂

I pick my leaves from broccoli, cabbages, kale, cauliflower etc and dehydrate them and make green powders for soups, casserole and smoothies….I also make up mixtures like dehydrated carrots, onions, kale, cucumbers and spinach that are made into a powder to add veggies in the winter…but especially now that prices are increasing for foods. Do you dehydrate? I also dehydrate mint, lemon balm, mullein, purple nettle, dandelions for medical teas.
@SustainableHolly2 жыл бұрын
Yes I do! I have a few videos on my dehydrating. I make a lot of homemade teas from the garden 🫖

I live in Kalgoorlie and my entire front garden is full of vertical melon growing at the moment, i have 5 varieties of watermelon and 3 varieties of rock melons. I am finding the watermelon's needing a lot of support as the weight seem's to double each fortnight. However the rock melons seem to do just fine with the support of its vine and some trench mesh!
@SustainableHolly2 жыл бұрын
Yes I can imagine they would need support! My 2022 goals are to grow lots more things vertically so im excited to test it out!

Hi Holly, I love the idea of pallet planter boxes on wheels. Do you have a video on how you made them? Or where you source them from. I’m also in Perth and my yard is mostly paved. I love the idea of being able to move them around especially on our hot summer days. Thanks ☺️

They are so good! I have one I think it’s the second video I ever posted so I should do an updated one 😁🌱
