This was my childhood home. We left in 1998 and no one moved in after us. The belongings inside are all ours from my childhood. We got that piano from an auction for $5 dollars, that dresser upstairs was my parents and I used to okay dressup with all her clothes, we would slide down those stairs on our mattresses. The bathroom upstairs never worked, my dad started that project when we moved in in 92 and never finished. The room with the piano was our parlor, we had green velvet furniture and none of us kids were allowed in there unless we were having dinner parties or Christmas because that’s where our tree went. The kitchen had Apple wallpaper and my mom had apple themed kitchen stuff everywhere and I learned how to write my name in cursive in that window seat. There was 6 of us that lived there, and one working bathroom. The room with the platforms was my dad’s train room. He had train sets and villages and the whole room was nascar and coke. We used to play in that closet under the states all the time too.

Kappy, I`ve noticed with a lot of the houses you visit, it always seems like the older part in the front is still in reasonably good shape but the new additions on the back are rotting and falling in. I guess it just shows the difference between the way things were built in the old days compared to now. Great job by the way, I really liked this one.

Oh my.... at 12:33 you show the old Singer sewing machine. I worked in the factory that built those cabinets. Singer built the sewing machines in Truamnn Arkansas for 50 years or more (probably 75 years) and there was the Parson's Cabinet Factory in Osceola Arkansas where I worked one summer while in high school and we built the cabinets for the machines. When Singer closed down, Parson's cabinet factory closed.

I don't know how you find these places, but I'm glad you do. It looks to me like the addition on the back of this place wasn't the quality of the rest of the house. Loved the outside of the home. In it's heyday, it was the talk of the town. Sad that a few antiques left inside of it. The furniture other than the dresser in one room reminded me of the furniture to a bedroom set from the 80's. But the other furniture (other than sewing machine) looked older, maybe from the 1900's down to the 1930's. The piano, was my favorite, the cords must be all gone. The keys looked okay. Nice job, and the stairwell, I could imagine a beautiful young lady in a ball dress standing at the top of those stairs with it's curved feature. To bad the rails were painted over. It could have been Mahogany or even Oak. The fireplaces just as beautiful with the ornate Greek style. Oh my, so many lovely homes abandoned and rotting away, destroyed by natural elements and some people breaking into. Thank you Sir, for this adventure you take us on!

It's better to refinish it rather than painting it. Another favorite for me is the staircase railing and the way is so smoothly wraps around. Still standing ruined back rooms a ruined upstairs bathroom but still a grand old house. Damage can be assessed, it can be updated for modern times during the repair but the look the feel other then the necessary updates she can undergo a full restoration and be sold to people who'd wanna love her and raise a family in her walls. Beautiful lady of a house, if I was rich I'd do the work and move in.
