Well that's our Nova @ 32:43 to 33:15 losing the chutes and eating shit at the end of the track. The parachute attach point failed, both tied to the same spot and they bloomed and ripped away and brakes alone weren't enough to stop the car. Dad walked away a little sore but that's it so it could have been worse. Heck of a lot of work getting it fixed in time for the next race.
@mytmousemalibu7 жыл бұрын
Yeah...........yeah, that's the whole problem...........red paint.

Wish we still had the car, we had to sell off the toys when the economy took a big dump in 08-09. It was fun, lot of good times! Luckily when that crash happened, my dad had the forethought to lock up the rear brakes with the hand brake and slide it in sideways. There is maybe 20-30ft of kinda flat ground then that big earthen hill which is actually an berm to a drainage/emergency waterway/ ditch. I have seen a couple cars hit that thing and takeoff like evil knievel and destroy the car on landing.

It is amazing to see a car wreck at 180+ MPH flip, spin, tumble, roll over and smash into a concrete guardrail and then have the driver walk away with just a few bruises and bumps. If only normal passenger cars had even a quarter of strength of these roll cages the public would be much safer in their deathmobiles.
@metallicarabbit4 жыл бұрын
thats because roll cages add weight and that reduces fuel efficiency. Drag cars dont need to worry about this added weight because off all the weight reduction work, we expect cars to be insulated so that we hear virtually no road noise (aka the stuff that gets stripped out for weight reduction) also we expect comfort, meaning the 5 point harness and body hugging racing seat is out. not to mention street cars arent usually going over 70mph so they dont need to be built to withstand bone-shattering impacts

UHAV: Where Fox-bodies go to die. BTW, as somebody who's not a hardcore drag-racing fan but enjoys the videos, why do most of the cars in UHAV's clips do 1/8-mile drags instead of the usual quarter-mile, even on tracks that look like they're capable of a quarter-mile?

One thing I've learned from these videos is that immediately upon the car no longer going straight and flat, take your foot off the gas peddle until it comes to a stop. There are a lot of $10,000 to $60,000 mistakes that could have been at least partially prevented by just getting your right foot out of it.

I notice way too many cars running the stock GM C clip axle not quite retainers and not one of the high buck cars carry on board fire extinguisher let alone a full on fire suppression system, I carry 10# ers in every car and truck I own, in case no one is around to put a fire out. I won't run where there aren't competent safety crews that can appear when you need them the most.
@jeffmiller26822 жыл бұрын
Absolutely correct observation some of theses safty crews are in no hurry and don't know how to handle a fire or an injured drive and just seem to watch the cars burn down like handing your saftey to a guy on a 10 spd ,flip flops and a water bottle and no clue !

At 12:30 the roll cage above the drivers side isn't there. Did they have to cut it to get the driver out or did the wreck actually break a section of the roll cage?

At the 6:24 mark, the guy in the right lane owes the left lane driver a classic Camero. He was roasting the tires the whole way. Such a rookie move cost one man probably his dream Camero. Glad they both walked away, but totally preventable unless the throttle hung up......but unlikely.

Also, the way you speak during your intro to this video, it sounds like you've been to a school for broadcasting or for voiceovers/narration.... but it probably just comes naturally to ya.... I only mention it because a friend of mine is currently pursuing a career in journalism, and for him anyway, that's included some courses on how to speak when doing introductions or other sorts of voiceover work....
