I just got my first drone - the Mavic Air 2. So far, I've been thrilled with how easy it is to operate. I appreciate your walk-thru's of the menus. So many videos are long winded with vague explanations. I've sat through dozens of them without really learning anything except the maker's life story. Thanks!

Extremely well done and very professional! You explain what your doing while doing it showing the Fly app screen and the Drone live response. Just got into the drone world after years of flying model airplanes. Your video is absolutely the best tutorial I've seen. I'm in OC also and I practice at El Dorado. Question, when locking on in active track to a car you mentioned to be 10 to 20 feet from the subject. After locking on can I raise the drone to 50 feet and still stayed locked on and have it follow the car?
@uosocal2 жыл бұрын
Usually you can. Once you start moving, the drone distance can change by itself.
@TRexHeliPilot3 жыл бұрын
Great video. Have you looked into the Skydio 2? I have found it to be much easier to use when mountain biking. Just hand launch it. Put the beacon in my pocket and it follows me. No need to worry about a phone or anything. Only downside I've experienced is it isn't as portable (doesn't fold up) as my Mavic Air 2.

Hey friend. Thanks for great content and positivity. Can you advice settings and filming mode for active track or filming when it comes to kiteboarding? Thanks a lot in advance!
@uosocal3 жыл бұрын
I think the hardest thing will be keeping the remote dry. Unless someone else is controlling the drone, you will have to keep the remote and phone dry while you record. Then it depends on how fast you will be going. In Normal mode( sensors on) under 16mph, active track Trace. Between 16-25mph parallel. Anything over that, you will have to use sport mode( no sensors). If the drone icon is a walking person after you lock on, then it may max out below 25mph.
@larssol13 жыл бұрын
@@uosocal Thank you for your thoughts. I imagined keeping the remote on land, ideally controlled by a person.
@uosocal3 жыл бұрын
@@larssol1 that would probably be best. Then they could use spotlight in sport mode. They can fly the drone all around and keep you centered.

You can set the height when you first start, but it won't stay the same. The drone will back away the faster you go.

Thanks for the very helpful video. I'm a total newbie to this so this type of tutorial is spot on. My question about trace tracking is: If you activate it with the drone at a low altitude like 10 feet above you, will it stay at that altitude as it tracks you? I want to have it track me through a wooded disc golf course. There is room above me along the fairways but the tree canopy starts at about 25 feet. Any advice on this will be much appreciated!
@uosocal2 жыл бұрын
It will stay at that height mostly. It will rise or lower when it senses obstacles.

How would the Active Track get on in a wooded covered area? We have a nearby path which runs under some trees, so the drone would be beneath the trees. The path is quite open and has sufficient height, but I would worry about GPS connectivity. Great videos - thanks so much!
@uosocal3 жыл бұрын
I don't think the tree cover would affect the gps. It will lock onto several at any one time. The drone may not track as fast depending on how much clearance there is.

Thanks for the great videos! Quick question...in active track mode does the drone stay at whatever altitude you put it at when you start or does it choose it's own as you fly?
@uosocal2 жыл бұрын
It will vary distance as you move around.
@vonheise3 жыл бұрын
I learned a lot from this video, and agree, the Air 2 is better than any past DJI drones for most things. I live in Tennessee and if a place is scenic in my opinion, it has tall trees. I have not used active track yet as I am still getting the feel of flying my new drone. I was disappointed to hear you say that the drone will not lock on at a distance of 100'. That means that I will rarely be able to use parallel or POI modes. My Question, there is a lake nearby with a trail around it close to the water with no trees between the trail and the water. If I park the drone over or at the edge of the water, and use parallel mode, will it stay on that side of me over the water and away from trees? If it will always be on the water side as I make my circle, it should be safe.
@uosocal3 жыл бұрын
The drone probably won't lock on from that far. But, once you lock on, the drone can stay locked on from much farther. It should stay on one side as long as you are not moving too fast.
