I'm a cop in a US city and have been in many hoarders' houses. There is so much junk piled in the rooms with just narrow pathways to walk through. Unbelievable. The smell stay in your sinuses for hours. A couple of the houses had the owners die in them. The funeral home people couldn't even get their gurney through the junk, so we'd have to bag the body and carry it out. I'm retiring soon and won't miss that stuff!

Blue Wolf: Same here. Thankfully, I've never had to deal with animal hoarders, but have run into some bad neglect cases. Thankfully, I was in a position to take the animal and turn it over to the municipal shelter where they received veterinary care and food.

Love the way you take the videos and when you touch anything it's always with such a gentle hand. I really admire you for being so respectful of others things. The spider webs were great. Thank you for not going through that one web. They work so hard building those. Thanks again for sharing as I really enjoy your videos.

My brother knew a contractor that got a job to demo an old house. He was given permission to go in and take anything he wanted. It was in the middle of a small city. My brother went with the intention of tearing out the wiring and the the plumbing if it was salvageable. I went with him. It was loaded inside with old antiques most destroyed by the leaking roof. But he got loads of smaller items silver knives, trays, service sets. Glassware crystal , it was unbelievable.

I really like to watch your videos, it breaks my heart to see someones home so torn and vanalized. You show much respect for the property when you go in. I just wish others could too. I always wonder what the house looked like on the day the very last soul walked out the front door. Thanks for filming and be safe!

It's amazing how the elements decompose these properties over time. Eventually, even if several decades, they, and all of their contents, will one day return from which they came. I find your guided tours Tiki, so much better than many others, because of your kind, thoughtful and respectful nature and narration. Another great tour. ~oO(♪)Oo~

Hi Tiki ~ I've been meaning to ask you, have you ever been to "Moreland Place" outside Owen Sound? I realize it is not abandoned, but the owner, Mr. Barry More, is a very sweet and kind man and is in need of some great documented footage of his life's accomplishment. His estate is beyond amazing both inside and out and is filled to overflowing with beautiful architecture and antiques. I just think "Moreland Place" is such a fascinating story and one that is in need of being told... by the best in the biz TikiTrex! Check it out... Your Fan, Austin Glen ~oO(♫)Oo~

Oh man, I really wish you'd have gotten a tighter focus on that Baxter box on the floor in the first level makeshift bedroom!! My mom's on peritoneal dialysis through Fresenius and I know that Baxter is a competing company there, and I imagine they do other home medical products and services too. Maybe there was at least one person living there in the house who was so lousy at taking care of their diabetes (I can only imagine, because my mom was just as diligent about her illness as she was about home cleanliness and she still ended up with complications) that they were needing constant home health care (I noticed a lot of medical supply boxes out in the main foyer area). Oh, and Mom actually experienced peritoneal dialysis using Baxter machines during her last few hospitalizations because that's all they had -- it requires a change in cap type but that's about it, and their machines are far bulkier than Fresenius's but a whole lot quieter even during the stages where the heater bag is filling itself up with replacement solution (during the "dwell" stage of the treatment). That's when the Fresenius "dream" machines are at their noisiest. Anyway, the whole house looked like no one ever gave a damn about it and that's just too sad, and this is the first time I actually felt less awed by the "frozen in time" junk (being that my earliest memories are from the 1980s I love seeing stuff from before that time) and more saddened by all that pathetic junk. Junk junk junk. I'm also happy you made it out of this house in one piece and am wondering when it'll collapse in on itself, because it's only a matter of time.

I heard of someone who was a hoarder, he lived in Brattleboro Vermont, the house was a 2 story and beautiful, the guy who lived there had boxes and boxes of stuff piled to the ceiling and had cars all over his yard but the city wanted him to clean it all up because it was an eyesore, he went to court and represented himself and he was a lawyer so he knew how to handle himself.. he won the case but his house burned down to the ground after that some time

i lived in an old abandoned "homestead" about 6 years ago for a few months....the people that owned it let me live there for free for the first couple months while i "cleaned the place up"....the lady that lived there had alzeimers and was a horder...i basically just piled everything into one empty bedroom and man the mice in that place. you could hear them "racing" in the attic at night and one night i woke up about 3 am with a mouse sittin on my chest staring at me......LAST NIGHT THERE

We loaded hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of antiques in his truck. Then went upstairs there was one room loaded with cat coffins, maybe a couple hundred of them. Shoe boxes with dead cats in them wrapped in plastic. Wow! My brother freaked incredibly bad. He left several thousand dollars of stuff there and would not return

Since its been abandoned for awhile, its hard to say if the prior owners were "hoarders" or if this wasn't created by squatters. Squatters don't clean up after themselves nor do they have access to running water or electricity. And depending on the character of the squatter, some to fund certain habits tear apart the house to find valuables left behind, empty any boxes, bags, containers, etc... to find just that and tear up houses to get to valuable wiring and copper pipes. A beautiful house up the road from me had that happen to it when it was empty. It was a crying shame.

It's kind of sad. Some old Farmer and wife lived there until they died. They were from the day and age of NOT throwing anything away. Instead of having an Estate Sale, the Family was probably overwhelmed and just left it to rot.

My guess: older residents made the downstairs rooms into bedrooms; perhaps one or both died or went into assisted living. I'm surprised there was only what seems to be a little back stairway. Maybe that part of the house is original and the rest added later. I've seen in older houses in the east that stairways are narrow and have walls on both sides. How did people get furniture up there? I've read or heard it was sometimes made where it was used and just stayed there.

was here a couple years ago, friend of mine did some reserch on this place and found out anelderly lady lived here. She owned some animales but had some mental issues i guess and couldnt properly take care of them after a while . so they were neglected thats why the barn has lots of small bones in it i am assuming. Place has been demolished now . A couple months ago i think.

I've been into an abandon house, it got abandoned because it caught fire but not too severe. House was still very much intact. They boarded it back up though. Aside from finding an abandon house there was a huge catholic church, which was simply amazing. There were many interesting items, and I held back from taking anything, guess because it's a church lol. Just wondering on your explorations has you found anything truly unique and interesting that you keep for a souvenir?

@ Gustave, It's having respect for both the house and the previous home owner. Although if I heard the place would be demolished I would take any belongings that I found interesting, because knowing it will be destroyed would be such a shame to let it go to waste. Like a beautiful painting or like you said a nice antique teacup. I'd think the creator would be proud that someone treasured their work of art

It would be interesting to know how to do the detective work and find out the history of the place and how it came to be abandoned. If the owner simply abandons the place and stops paying property tax does it automatically revert to ownership of the local government after a set period of time? Then again, if the county does not bother to go through the motions of seizing the property...Detroit?

a lot of collectors who are in a hurry, and dont want to get caught, will use a portable battery powered mini sawsall and cut the door around bronze /brass and antique door fixtures, you will see them like that at flea markets, its too bad because the doors which themselves can be collectibles, are ruined.
