If the rocker nuts were only finger tight, there is obviously a reason for not doing the final bits on it. Love how the keyboard warriors always know best 😂

That’s a lot more engine than a standard Mini has. Even if the chassis is a little heavy, it should be competitive

Looking forward to seeing it on track. My 1965 VW Beetle is built for Historic Touring Car racing, and the motor is currently 1285cc with 126bhp@7700rpm and 97lbft, so pretty similar to your Libre motor, although you have much more lower end torque than me. Currently gathering parts for a 1299cc which'll be in the 135-140bhp@8500rpm range.
@matthewarmstrong70692 жыл бұрын
Those are some very nice numbers for a little motor like that. 120bhp is 96kW out of a 1.3l engine designed in the late 1940's, very nice. That car is going to be pretty quick.

There are quite a few non-crossflow engine designs from the A series eram (e.g. the Ford "pre-crossflow" used in the Anglia, Cortina etc). The A series siamesed ports were more of an unusual feature.
@danstewart82182 жыл бұрын
The Siamesed ports are one of the restricting aspects of the A series, the works cars of the 60's tried using a crossflow head (look for Arden) ie. carbs at the front exhausts at the back and they were easily pushing 110-120hp out of them, and they were not nearly as modern as this...ie belt drive and ecu...instead of timing chain points etc...

Sorry to Say Matt, but I did offer to help you with hints and tips, albeit a lovely engine from John at SC again as normal, but without another 20bhp, spot on weight and a ATB diff I’m afraid your experience of Libre will be one of watching a lot of cars from the rear buddy. Your work is amazing and due to budget restraint on engine it’s going to be waisted I’m sorry to say. If your testing and need a time to work to check out mini7 times on TSL before you go so that you can see where you sit. I’ll estimate a 57sec tops at the brands Indy circuit once you get your teeth into it. Good luck fella.
