How you bent that one bracket to 90° and the hole lined up is beyond me. I would have had a pile of bent brackets at my feet because they were just a little off. Well done.

Back in the 70's the Special Saloons had to have a charging system. We used a Sturmey Archer dynamo from a push bike on the Imp, passed scrutineering.....

Good strong yet light alternator bracket! I am amazed you managed to bend it so that it aligned precisely with the hole in the front bracket. What's your secret? If that were me, I'd probably have to make half-a-dozen brackets before I got the holes to line up.

Looking good! Might be worth cutting a few flats on the spacer tube so you can hold it still if either of the bolts get a bit stuck. Mole grips would probably do it, but would be a bit more of a pain.

Something I found out recently from KZbin,that just about all quick release chucks do lock,so that when in reverse your drill bit doesn’t keep falling on floor,all you do is after tightening chuck turn backwards one click,that is then locked.I’ve tried it on my drills and it appears to be true 😮 No manufacturer has ever but this in instructions!weird huh 🤔

what is the alternator off ? ive looked for a light weight alt and only found brise or for a Kubota but both are a bit pricey. nice work by the way, the threading of the sleave with a bolt each end will save a little weight too.

Does the mini need an alternator for short races? Would a LiPo battery pack supply sufficient spark?
@Urchfab2 жыл бұрын
the regs say it has to have one bud.
@ferrumignis2 жыл бұрын
@@Urchfab If you ever need a really lightweight alternator there are tiny 14amp permanent magnet alternators which are used on some Kubota engines. Not stupid expensive, £50-£60 though it does need a specific regulator which is about £40.

Will the bigger pulley on the alternator Change how fast it spins? Changing the power output?
@GRAHAMAUS2 жыл бұрын
It slows it down relative to the engine, but the regulator ensures that the output is constant regardless of RPM (over some minimum idling speed).
