I love to see so much support for the team. At my college, it has been a nightmare to get these teams going and maintained as they are 100% student lead and executed with too little help from the University and faculty. It has been great to work on these projects; however, FSAE is really exciting, and I can't wait to potentially compete against one of the teams I see in many of the FSAE videos I see.

my school was competing at this one day head of the student engineers calls me and sais I heard you were a driver in your youth. I competed in various lower formulas like f4 formula renault. I helped them a lot of the subjects which I did not know if I could do. they won in 2 of the categories and I shared the award with them is project is an amazing thing an also a rollercoaster.

guys hold up, im in last year of high school and going to uni next year and want to take part in formula student as well, like will there be classes missed or stuff like that?!
@sully61146 ай бұрын
Depends on how much you want to spend and which position you are going for. If you work as a support without a part responsibility or else, you could easily study without missing classes (~10-20h a week). If you on the other hand want to take a position with responsibility you’ll spend more time. There is basically no limit set, besides the one depending on your health. In some European teams it’s common for some Teammembers to spend ~80h a week, especially before important project deadlines.
@Shelovescharles6 ай бұрын
@@sully6114 ohh alright, thank you very much, but what about if we do miss classes, do the uni still let you take exams because i heard somewhere that a student missed two classes (for a different reason) and the uni didnt let them take exams. kinda worried about that, rest is fine.
@sully61146 ай бұрын
@@Shelovescharles This also depends on the university you are planning to go. I think in the USA most of the Uni’s have an attendance policy. Another reason for european teams being way ahead of the americans ones is the fact, that we don’t need to pay that much money to study, nor do we have massive amounts of student loans. That’s why students in europe have way more freedom to take time off Uni. In my Uni for example you need to get at least some credit points in 4 semesters to avoid being kicked. That means you could easily do 2 years of formula student without really worrying about your studying.
