I have been waiting so long to see Uriah Heep get its props in the reaction universe. Lady in Black, great choice. Thank you. Also, Pronounce it Ur-Rye-Uh Heep. Uriah Heep is the villain in the Charles Dickens novel "David Copperfield."

Chad, July Morning (studio version) by Uriah Heep is THE song you need to check out from the band. It has everything. The quiet and beautiful, the loud and powerful and the heartfelt lyrics. The ending is topped off with one of the craziest mini moog solos you'll ever hear. A grand epic in the best tradition.

My favorite album from Uriah Heep is the Demons and Wizards album. I know, I know it's probably the most highly regarded but it is favorite. "The Wizard", "Traveler in Time" and "Rainbow Demons". Also, I think their biggest hit "Easy Livin'" all from Demons and Wizards.

"July Morning" off their "Look At Yourself" album. Ken Hensley's organ plays a MAJOR part in the song, and the David Byron lyrics and his vocals are outstanding.

Wow! I am really sorry I overlooked this between March17 and now since I requested it 2/17 in the Jamming With Your Dad video when you asked people to submit groups of 5. I think you have done 3 of the 5, all very good, and I thank you. Lady In Black is my favorite Uriah Heep song and in my top-5 list of all songs by anyone. You are doing a terrific job across your channel.

From an interview with Mick Box (Uriah Heep guitarist) A&B: In 1970, when your first album was published, a journalist of the magazine Rolling Stones wrote: “If this group achieves success, I’ll commit suicide!”. What would you tell her now? Mick Box: Melissa Mills is not writing for the Rolling Stone Magazine anymore, and Uriah Heep are still here 45 years later, so we made her eat those words. I never found out of she committed suicide!

This is easily their most folk-rock song, and the man singing is usually firmly behind a Hammond organ playing the heck out of it. So this is not their normal singer. It’s a good song but it’s not typical of their output. To me this is a great campfire song, with everyone singing along.

The correlation between the "Jesus Hair" and "Afros" is the peace, love, and freedom and loving your brother that was so touted in the 60's and 70's. It was what we truly hoped for the future, unfortunately it seems it only lasted for our generation. But, I truly believe it is what made our music so great. It was a time in history that we can't get back, but I hope the younger generations will learn from it and want it too. It's evident in your reactions that you really appreciate the vibe from back then. I love your channel!

Chod, the group line-up featured in the video, was one of my favourites. It was post David Byron and Gary Thain and was responsible for even more ballads. The band line-up was Mick Box - guitars and vocals, Lee Kerslake (RIP) - drums and vocals, Ken Hensley (RIP) - guitars, organ, and vocals, Trevor Bolder (RIP) - bass, and vocals, John Lawton - lead vocals, guitar. Check out "Free Me", "The Dancer", "Come Back to Me". All written by Ken Hensley.

Pronounced U-rye-uh. The original record is from 1971. This is them lip syncing that 1971 recording in 1977 on a TV show. Basic studio construction of this track is 4 acoustic guitars. This band is little remembered now days but were huge in early to mid 70s. I saw them 5 times in that era and it was always top level entertaining deafening rock.

Very good song - but not typical of Uriah Heep's heavy/progressive sound. Try "Look At Yourself" , "Suicidal Man" or "One Way Or Another" from the Byron era. Or try "Sympathy" or "Choices" from the Lawton era.

Stylistically, this song brings to mind Richie Blackmore, guitarist for Rainbow and Deep Purple, and his band Blackmore's Night. In fact, the band even did a cover of "Lady in Black." For an original song from this band check out "Ghost of a Rose." kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5elon-mnpp5oa8

Its a bit sad that the experience of listening to Uriah Heep veers off to songs like "Lady in black", which has nothing to do with Heep's impact on music as one of the only two bands in the UK to break ground in heavy rock, the other being Deep Purple. "Lady in black" is the soft, little tune that all the heavy rock bands put on their albums to excuse themselves and show that they could be something else than heavy rockers, but was totally separated from their identity as musicians. Uriah Heep was a band who made a name for themselves as punching through walls with their music, and the press described it as "it sounds like they are coming at you like a panzer doing 80 miles pr. hour". To understand the impact Uriah Heep had on the music industry in 1970, you HAVE to listen to songs like "Look at yourself" and "Gypsy".

Stealin' and Easy Living are also some very good Uriah Heep songs. And just a little helper for later reference, its pronounced Ur-aye-or-Ur-eye-a Heep. And could we revisit the TEDESCHI TRUCKS BAND ? PLEASE check out the vevo video of Bound for Glory. It not only is a great song that has all the elements you love but also really shows the fun and love this band has for each other like family and it shows. See ya, on your next video, I love Van Morrison as well, another concert I enjoyed back in day. And by the way I may have gone bald from my cancer chemotherapy, but I since have grown back my JESUS, hair , hence the name HIPPIE JOE PEACE

When this song was released I liked it very much esp. because of the "Aaah". But it got so much airplay and Uriah Heep was so much reduced to this song that over the years I began to like it less. There are a lot of UH songs that have more to offer. So on one hand I like that they made this 2 chord song because I like when musicians also do simple things. On the other hand it becomes a bit shallow with age what I do not feel with song like Gypsy, Salisbury, Paradise/The Spell and some other of theirs.
