Well spoken, Jayden. Very proud of you. I'm 31 and have a stoma as well, and I'm in awe of your bravery. I have a hard time opening up to my friends about my bladder exstrophy/stoma, even though I know it's nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed about. It's something we were born with. Best wishes for you to have a long, happy, healthy life! You're a very impressive, well-spoken kid. You seem to be doing really well with the stoma. Keep that chin up, always, my friend (except when cathing, hah.) All the best!

Hi Jayden, I'm a pre-med student applying to medical school this summer and found your video to learn how to help a patient I'm going to work with. Thank you so much for sharing, I greatly admire your bravery. I hope you're doing well and I wanted to express how impressed I am with your technique and how incredibly eloquent you are! I hope you're getting some compensation from this video and how many people you've helped - you absolutely deserve it! Sending my love, Martine

This was so helpful for my 10 year old. We are talking about catheterizing her this way because the regular way is painful and traumatizing for her. This really gave her hope. Which is what we really need right now.

Dr. Berkman, in the video, was the urologist who placed my stoma, or vesicostomy for my neurogenic bladder, as well as a cecostomy to flush my neurogenic bowel. Both are located in the exact same places as Jayden's! I have had both since I was four and had a kidney transplant 3 years ago. I am now almost 19 and want to be a firefighter. Shout out to my brotha from anotha motha to not let these keep you from what you want to do!😎

Although I don’t have this. At age 10 a dr told me I’m gonna cath you. I was like ah ok. I remember going into this room and seeing all this stuff and nurse says I’m gonna clean you off. I looked down and was like WTF. Then the dr had a cath and said stay calm. Then it hit me what he was gonna do. I fought. They ended knocking me out and I woke up with one in. 4 days later they went to remove it but the. Balloon wouldn’t deflate. But dr was yanking away ( haha ) Ended up back in surgery. Woke up without it. Ye ha. Now I go to pee. Wtf I was like fire. I was damaged as a kid. Lmao

I know this is an old post, but, as the video said, some people aren't able to catheterize themselves through their urethra. Also, many people don't get stomas because it's a major surgery.

I will probably be having a urinary diversion and obviously with that comes a stoma, I’m super anxious and worried that I’ll have to stop my dream of being a pro handball player. Does anyone have any tips?

Watching inspires me to work hard and become the best doctor I can be. I didn't do my best in medical school-my fault entirely-but I cannot continue to be mediocre at my craft when there are wonderful people like Jayden who need my support and expertise. Pray for me, KZbin, that I make strides, not for myself, but for my future patients.
