Great video, I went through in January of 2002 as a 42 year old Major, just about killed me. There is a good reason for the age cutoff being 35 (without a medical waiver) ABN Training is the greatest training ever, love looking at the videos and miss the opportunity of ever doing it again.

I went through jump school in July 1968. I have to say it was sooooooo hot and humid I thought I would melt. We had to roll through showers ever hour to cool down. Then you are wet and rolling around in sawdust but you keep going. After I finished I was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. Then off to Vietnam. Good training and I did enjoy the $55.00 extra a month I got for jump pay when I finished. Back in 1968---$55.00 was almost have my monthly pay. I am 62 years now maybe last 4 hours lol

This is definitely one of those things where you're scared at first, and after you want to do it again.

I went thru Jump School in June 1972, needless to say it was very hard back then, no matter, i was 17 and in good shape and it still kicked my ass BAD, so I totaly respect ANYONE that makes it thru no matter what Branch, it is something earned and not just given out all of us know that. So, be cool and just respect the person and the earned wings, remember you have them for life and no one can take them away, wear them FOREVER.......AIRBORNE , HHC 1/503RD INF 101ST. 1972 THRU 1977

I went through airborne training December 1973. The towers look the same. When I was standing in line there were SGT'S messing with us, making us do push ups. Only ten at a time though, that was the rules, but we had to get right back down again and to ten more. If we weren't doing the Airborne Shuffle, we were doing push ups all day long. I sure was in shape when I graduated from Airborne Training !!!

I agree. The dropout rate was about 50-60%. I went thru the Jump School at the same time(1967) as you did. It was 3 weeks of pure hell. I never got more than 3 hours of sleep at night. After a long and very hard day, we had to prepare for the barracks inspection. Usually we went to bed around 1 o'clock and then the Black Hats used to wake us up around 3 o'clock and made us run and do pt.

When I went through in march I was in A company and we had a marine refuse to jump out of the tower. So the Sergeant Airborne was kind enough to kick him out!

I went through in 1967. We had a 50% drop out rate and I've heard that is about the average.

Went through in June, 1968. Got there on a Friday evening, half the class quit before training started on Monday. Training is not that tough, you just have to want to jump out of a plane.

Well if you want to go straight up infantry I would suggest getting ranger in your contract. Or go 18 series if your lucky enough to get it. Airborne will automatically be added on. You will go through basic training with everyone else, we had everyone from medics to truck drivers and electronic repairers(me). The only difference with infantry is AIT and basic are combined for something like 12-13 weeks. My suggestion is get a job that will help you when your out of the army.

Looks like not much has changed since I went through the course in A Co. 31-02. God I hated the SLT. Otherwise, I thought the school was pretty fun. Anyone out there have a class photo from A Co 31-02 or know how to get one?

but in order to get into delta force it was said that 75% of their operators were in the 75th ranger regiment and plus how are they not smart, no disrespect to the sf, but their primary jobs are to teach and train local militias and guerrilla forces. 75th rangers conduct high profile raids, sabotage, hvt capture/eliminate missions. They are the premiere light infantry fast action response force which is closer to what delta is then green berets.

Most Delta members are from the Special Forces. In the Delta, you need more of brain than brawn. No disrespect for the Rangers.
@DumbHonkie1
@DumbHonkie1 12 жыл бұрын
No, I disagree. The Delta Force and Special Forces are the best. The Green Berets have a low opinon of the Rangers. They think the Rangers are tough but not that smart.
