Economics 101. Strykers cost around 3 million and has a trained crew and fuel/power requirement. A drone which can destroy it costs around 300 bucks. Could be a problem here.
@scottmadison43803 ай бұрын
And that laser system costs $10million So far...
@nwhite30803 ай бұрын
yea but reusable and keeps troops alive in the vehicle probably while moving which has become a problem in a current warzone so its a frontline solution. They have other systems for forward bases and others that work like the iron dome but shoots drones at the drones over missiles
@loafoffloof34203 ай бұрын
$3mil is cheap for the DoD, oil is made cheap when the U.S. military needs it, western hardware is made to be repairable, crew survivability is the top priority in western design-can't say the same for eastern design, a drone sure will sure cause an explosion, and that is why the U.S. the new and revised modern doctrine is to maintain air superiority and maintain electronic warfare jammers at all times across the battlefield

Doesn't matter, they are decades behind on everything, from chips to lasers, batteries and software and so on. Their recent flex was promising to open soviet Era chip factory that makes such beasts as 142nm chips (200$ phones have 6nm)

Wow, light works in a clear sky. How about in rain? Snow? Fog? Clouds? Air inversions? What if the adversary mirrors the drone’s surface to deflect light? What if the drone changes the surface it presents to a laser so it can’t heat up one point for sufficient time to destroy the drone? Without more information and given the visuals of the test environment, this weapon sounds like a gimmick that works only under ideal test conditions.
@scottmadison43803 ай бұрын
Nope. It's actually real. Even in adverse conditions the TRACKING system (the most important part) holds target lock. Even if it needs a few extra seconds to get the kill, it will still get it. PLUS the 30mm does a pretty good job of follow up Pew Pew. THE PROBLEM is the 10 million price tag to shoot down a $2,000 dollar drone.... (or a swarm of 50 drones, or 500 drones, or....)
@DirkDiggler-qp3vm3 ай бұрын
Hence the big ass 30 mm cannon and missles so I think they covered those bases
@ccdecc66503 ай бұрын
Well, the mirroring idea aside, the drones themselves aren't going to do well in rain, snow, fog, and clouds.
@nathanryweck3137Ай бұрын
@@ccdecc6650 even a mirror wont help. You need a near perfect mirror and any microscopic imperfection will absorb the laser energy and start to burn, which causes blackening and then more laser engery gets absorbed causing a kill. it will just take a few seconds longer.
@JohnDoe-xd7he3 ай бұрын
Lol, just put a mirror on the bottom of the drone😂

☠️ Man has no idea how high powered laser works
@loafoffloof34203 ай бұрын
mirrors can't withstand more than 10w of laser focused energy if you are looking for a mirror that can reflect a +500w high powered laser than you have to get it precisioned engineered from a telescoping company which makes the costs 100x more than the drone itself
