Well...from a career US Marine Corps Master Sergeant daughter (24 yrs 5 wartime tours)...I say it is both. People do not all have to respect or admire the flag. That is a freedom my father fought for. He passed away four years ago at age 91, rest his soul. If we politicize the flag we actually cheapen both the flag and the true greatness of our country's freedom. If we shove patriotism in people's face it's like shoving anything else at them...many will recoil at who we are and the flag along with us. Winning hearts and minds is a much more nuanced activity than flag-waving. I can only place my hand on my heart and be grateful and proud. I pray others can find that same peace.

Diane, well said above. I'm sure your father was an amazing man. I've been working with the Marines all my adult life, and have always been amazed by them. Semper Fi!

Then you didn't learn anything in the army. And I say that as someone who served in the Italian army for 5 years. Who also comes from a family of soldiers since the time of Benito Mussolini. Respect for the flag is a must. Not everyone can afford to buy an expensive flag. But if someone wants one anyway, they should buy the flag they can afford. But the fact that you don't spit on a flag or speak badly of it is protected by this government and its soldiers. That is an absolute lack of respect and should be punished in court in my opinion.

I still have a 49 star flag I bought summer between 7th and 8th grade, just a cheap one stapled to a wooden pole, smaller than 3'x 5' but still big enough to fly from a house; a year later 50 star flag became official. I have a "Betsy Ross" flag I fly on Flag Day, and a 15 star 15 stripe flag I flew on the 200th anniversary of the Battle at Fort McHenry and later at the Battle of New Orleans. Have other historical flags and a Navy flag, and for this Halloween even bought a Jolly Roger. I have three columns on my front porch and can, and sometimes fly three flags, but usually just the National Ensign. I know some of my flags were made in China, but I always make sure my The current 50 star flag is made in the U.S.A.

From a Canadian who loves my national flag I do also love the United States flag. Your collection is beautiful! I plan to get a made in USA, US American Flag. :) I love that the American flag is so widely displayed in the US I wish we Canadians did it more, and maybe we will. I have quite a collection of flags, mostly Canadian, a few political flags, and a few from my late father, he had a Texas flag, I don't know why but I have it hung up, basically as much wall space in my room has a flag hanging vertically. I carry a flag on a pole when I go for walks, and sure it's weird probably but I enjoy doing so. Thank you for showing your incredible collection and your valuable information.

They should not drape it across their body at all. Per the U.S. Flag Code: “The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds but always allowed to fall free.[9] The flag should always be permitted to fall freely.”

@reginaldvandenbosch8 ай бұрын
The non-labeled Flags are actually produced from polyester made to feel like nylon. You are correct if they are not labeled they are not made in USA genuine nylon is much more expensive than polyester and will provide in much longer lasting Flag. There are many sellers on Amazon Amazon misrepresenting their product and violating US textile labeling loss.

I’ve had the worst time finding just the right one, I tried ordering one and didn’t want a poly one, they sent me supposedly cotton, but it doesn’t feel like cotton, it’s not soft and vibrant. I’m kind of thoroughly annoyed but more sad than anything, nothing wrong with the ones I have or can find around here. 😢

I’m 18 years old and man… I truly love this flag.. I really do and I really want one in my Room… as someone from Texas I feel like this flag is loosing its meaning cause of stupid decisions being made in the White House… and stupid people ruining it.. and now that my state is going Agaist the White House because of the border stuff is so dumb… that’s one reason I no longer first consider myself as a USA Citizen but as a Texan Citizen first.
