Thanks! I agree, in the 2020's why stick with one brand? Any tool with a decent warranty will last a lifetime. I shop based on price and needs, not brands.

I got the same top and bottom in blue , plus the Tech Cart. I love mine.

It's a better quality box than my Craftsman for sure. I just wish the drawers were a bit deeper.

I have the same set-up in black. Agreed on the shallow drawers, but I have made mine work. For the price, the US General boxes beat the big box store offerings. Nice vid! 👍🏻

I got a 44" us general top and bottom early this year and have been really happy with it. I questioned the shallow drawers on the 26" too

I really wanted the 44, but couldn't justify the $$ for it at the time. Now I think I should have held out.

Its a simple classic, though the drawers do seem small, you did show quite a lot fit in even the small ones showing its an efficient use of space. It kind of forces one to not be messy and stack those drawers too. The only thing that would make it better are deluxe features not really needed. Get em now before the series 3 comes out which may fix some of these things but cost 2-3 x as much.

@@FarpointRestorationsAndRepairs I have just seen the 56" and very limited a open boxed damaged 72" yes there are some issues with it to me too, such as the door latches that do not seem to work well, and the hutch letting the top stick out too far when open. I would go with the Icon scratch and dent when ready or needed a big box like that. but they do look great and do the job and for the price not going to get much better.

Nice honest review , certainly a tool chest to consider . I was at a flea market today and I believe one of the vendors there has some Craftsman sockets and wrenches , when I go back I'll have to inquire about them .

This set is being marked down and cleared out. They are now retailing the top box for $150 and the bottom box for $250. The 25% coupons worked, and my wife got the pair for a total of $278 plus tax. The top box was a floor display with another 20% off, but it was in very good shape, no problems. I think the drawer sizes make sense if you only have the bottom box, but if you add the top box one, of the two boxes needs more big drawers. She didn't really need the top box, but couldn't pass it up for under $100.

Looked at them in the store last weekend since they were a really good deal. I was not going for the top chest. I too quickly noticed the lack of a top deep socket drawer and that was a deal breaker for me. Otherwise I would have walked out with a toolbox and a smile.

Agreed. I've got the layout on this one fixed up, but deeper drawers really would have made this a winner. Series 3 is coming soon and I'd bet a dollar that they fixed this issue.

Regarding the too-many shallow drawers: I'm considering fastening two drawers together and cutting out the bottom of the upper one of that pair. That would give me one more medium deep drawer, at the cost of giving up two shallow ones. Anybody try that?

Will the lid close with the sockets in the top part?

They should, I keep mine in one of the drawers so I did not test it like that.

I didn't care about the lock, but the layout sure needs a do over. I heard today that Series 3 fixes that issue.

@@FarpointRestorationsAndRepairs Yup, the skinny top drawers on the roll cart don't work for me. I also heard the Series 3 have a different drawer configuration. Unfortunately no one knows when the Series 3 will be available...if ever.
